This is prime Bigfoot territory.
Just saying.
Bigfoot is totally real.
I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.
I wouldn’t really.
Well, I might, depending on how aggressive they are in their denial that I am, in fact right, and Bigfoot is real.
I think I might be more nervous than I thought because now my brain is going off on tangents.
As we head down the dirt track, I have to ask, “Are you sure it’s this way?”
Trick nods. “Yes, unless they gave us the wrong address. I did wonder why they gave us coordinates instead of a normal address.”
“You probably wouldn’t find it if you only had the normal address,” Jensen points out. “If it even has one. They are an organization team after all.”
“Whoa, look at that,” Rage suddenly exclaims, and I sit up straighter. There are only trees on either side of us, so it doesn’t take me long to realize what he’s talking about.
Trick immediately stops the car.
“Well, I’ll be damned,” Jensen says as he immediately gets out of the car.
“Jensen?” Trick asks, but it’s already too late because Jensen is walking up to the gates.
They aren’t like anything that I have ever seen before.
They’re huge.
Massive stone pillars are on either side of the track with huge tree trunks, with the bark still on them secured on top, and another humongous tree trunk across the top, all with bark still on them except for a portion that’s been flattened and stripped in the middle with the word Dalbhadh inscribed on it in big, bold letters.
The thing that makes it even more unique is that all over the massive trunks, carved seemingly randomly and of different sizes, are creatures and symbols. They have been done with so much detail that I am almost certain that I saw one of them just move, but that’s impossible, and must have just been a trick of the light.
My attention moves to the gates themselves. They are made out of black steel that has been twisted and shaped into unique patterns and vines, and tower high above the roof of the SUV.
Those vines reach the top of the gates and turn into lethal-looking spikes.
It’s very clear to me that Zemi and the guys take their safety seriously. A high fence stretches out from either side of the gates and disappears off into the trees.
Getting out of the car, I move to stand next to Jensen as we both stare at the gates and the others join us.
“It’s not just me, right? These are familiar?” Luc asks, looking confused as his eyebrows draw down.
I shake my head. “Nope. I would definitely remember if I had seen something like this before. These are incredible.”
“They’re similar to the gates at Knox’s place,” Jensen says, his voice quiet and contemplative.
“Fucking hell, you’re right,” Rafe gapes. “It’s been years and years since we were last at Knox’s place. I’d completely forgotten about them.”
“I would say that’s impossible, but they’ve even got the same feel to them as the ones at Knox’s place did,” Cash adds, his gaze on the gates.
“We’re hundreds of miles away from Serendipity though,” Atlas points out. “I can’t argue that they look almost identical. The name is different, and there are different things carved into it, but from what I can remember from his parties, the shape and the construction are identical. Even the way the things have been carved.”
“Would someone care to explain what you’re talking about to Ever and me, who have no idea what’s going on or who Knox is?” Rage asks with an amused smile.
Trick grimaces slightly. “Sorry. It’s just really surprising that Zemi and the guys have gates like this. There’s a similar set of gates back in Serendipity on a property that’s actually pretty similar to this one.”
