Finally, Pete’s done.

Everyone knows what we’re doing tomorrow, and Rafe takes over since we’ve now only got a short amount of time to make sure that the food is on the table, and the bar is set up along with a few last-minute things that we need to do to get this place ready for the party.

Once it’s all done, we split off into groups, and I catch up with Jynx, filling her in on what Rylie said. She’s as surprised as I am that Rylie is actually working with a team.

Chapter Thirty-Two

Ever

My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I pull it out, grinning. I say, “Zemi and her guys are here.”

“Awesome, come on, it’s their first time up here, right?” Jynx asks, already on the way to the front to meet them.

I nod, “Yeah, Pete and Elijah wanted them up here for this. I did warn them how chaotic it was going to be, but that just seemed to excite Zemi even more.”

“Of course it did,” Jynx grins. “I don’t think I’ve seen anything put her off or make her hesitate about a situation. She’s one of us after all.”

I nod in agreement, and we head out to the front porch to meet them.

“Hey, guys,” I greet them as they all get out of the car.

“Ever, your place is absolutely gorgeous,” Zemi says as she bounces up the steps and gives me a hug.

“Thank you,” I say. Looking over her shoulder, I add, “Hey guys, everyone else is inside. Head on in and someone will get you a drink.”

“Thanks, Ever,” Raiden says with a smile.

My mind immediately pings back to seeing him leaping across the shipping containers, and I make a note that I want to ask him how he trains for that later. It’s really impressive and could be really handy in a lot of situations that we end up facing.

Zemi moves to Jynx and greets her happily, pulling her in for a hug too. “Hey! I’m so glad you’re here.” She pulls back and tilts her head slightly. “There’s something different . . .”

Zemi pauses, and Jynx laughs, “I’m good. Life has just been kicking my ass recently. You know that.”

Zemi grins, “Yep, I’m glad you could be here though. Did someone say drink? As much as I love him, listening to Saint sing eighties hits at the top of his lungs for the entire drive here was enough to make most people want a drink.”

I burst out laughing.

“Hey, that was mean,” Saint says, suddenly appearing in the doorway with two drinks in his hands. A wicked grin tilts his lips. “You know what? Just for that, I’m going to drink yours too.”

Zemi narrows her eyes. “Really?”

Saint lifts one glass to his lips and downs it, then quickly does the same with the other glass as Zemi launches herself at him, and he turns on his heel and runs back inside, laughing manically as Zemi follows closely behind him.

Jynx and I share a look and a laugh before we both head inside too.

We’re still waiting on D, Alaric, and Ryan, and I have no idea if they’re all coming together or not, but everyone else is already here. Everything has gone according to plan and is ready for tomorrow.

I’m sure that there may be a couple of little things that don’t quite go the way that we’ve planned, but for now everything is fine, and hopefully those little things are actually just little things and not giant complicated things that make the day stressful.

Although if they are, there are plenty of us, and I’m sure that we can handle anything.

Jynx, Lyric, Zemi, and I are Pete’s bridesmaids. He insisted that’s what we were to call ourselves, and Elijah has Marty, Callan, and Noel as his best men.

We’re all in dark green, like an emerald green, it’s absolutely beautiful. Each of us bridesmaids got to choose the kind of dress we wore, so long as it was in that color, and we’re lucky enough that there’s a beautiful dress store in town that we managed to go to in the run-up to taking down Hunt, and Zemi even managed to make it out to choose her dress as well, although there wasn’t enough time for her to come up to the house since she had something she needed to do. Jynx had to choose hers via video call. The guys are in the same colored green suits with black bow ties.

Everyone else is obviously wearing what they want to wear, and I can’t wait to see my men in their suits. It might be one of my most favorite things that they wear.

“D just messaged,” Jynx says, with a slight frown. “Something has come up, and they aren’t going to make it tonight. They will be here tomorrow though.”
