“Watch what you say, or I’ll lay your ass out flat on this floor and I won’t even think twice about it.” I squeeze a little and feel his pulse. “You hear me?”

He nods, and I release him roughly. I start to walk away but swallow hard and turn around, meeting his eyes. “No need for you to worry about him. He’s being well taken care of.” And with that, I walk away, back to my friends. I half expect to be jumped from behind, but nothing happens. Still, this whole thing—the whole night, to be honest—has left me kind of unsettled, and I’m ready to get out of here.

“I’m going to call it a night, guys.” I throw several twenties down on the table. Caleb starts to give me shit about leaving, but I shoot him a look that stops him mid-sentence.

When I get to my car, I turn it on and let it heat, taking a deep breath and blowing it out slowly. I know Dare is with Ryan tonight, but I really want to see him. Touch him. Taste him.

I grab my phone from my pocket and tap out a message.

Me: Hey you.

He doesn’t respond right away, and so I start to drive. I see my phone light up just after I turn out of the parking lot, and I wait until the first red light before I check it.

Lycan: Hey yourself.

I smile at the basic message. The light turns green, and I have no other choice but to drive home. Once I get there, I park and go inside, then head into the kitchen and lean against the counter as I type back.

Me: How was your night?

Lycan: It was good. Yours?

Me: Fine. Was at the Exchange with the guys.

Lycan: Sounds fun. Sorry I missed it.

Me: I missed you.

Lycan: Oh stop. You’re making me blush.

Me: Are you home?

Careful Lev. Be cool.

Lycan: Ryan and I are still out. Kind of bar hopping. Getting a little wrecked.

I chuckle.

Me: K. Be safe okay?

Lycan: K.

I’ll fully admit that I’m slightly disappointed we can’t get together tonight. After all the talk with the guys tonight and then running into Lance, I’m keyed up and would love to have him with me. But since that’s not going to happen, I head to my bedroom to get ready for bed.

After a quick shower, I wrap my towel around my waist and walk back to the bedroom to choose a pair of boxers from my drawer. When I get back to my phone, there’s a message notification.

Lycan: I’d send you a dick pic but I’m out in pubic. Hahah I mean public.

I laugh at that and shake my head.

Me: How about you show me the real thing soon?

Lycan: Soon. wink emoji I’mma go drink more now. night, Lev

Me: Night Little Lycan. Be smart.

Dare sends me a selfie of him with a beer in his hand and his beautiful smile lighting up his face. I smile and settle into bed for the night.
