It didn't take much after that. A couple of strokes and I was coming in hot spurts that landed on my stomach, making that desperate noise again as my head swam with the intensity of it.

“Fuck!” Luke shouted, and then he was coming as well, adding to the mess.

He buried his face in the side of my throat and for a split second I tensed, convinced he was about to bite me, but then his entire body relaxed and he dropped a kiss on my neck.

The room was silent except for the sound of our heavy breathing. My hand was still tangled in his hair, and I found myself running my fingers through the messy strands and resting my palm on the nape of his neck.

“Hmmm.” He lifted his head, his eyes dark, and his gaze found mine. “We should do that again.”

My gut squirmed, some unnamed emotion worrying at the edges of my afterglow. “We really shouldn’t have done it this time.”

Luke gave me a grin that could only be described as cocky. “Zero regrets. And hey, you started it.”

He had me there. And the thing was, I didn’t regret it, not exactly. But I had one rule, dammit. “Call it a moment of weakness.”

“So what I’m hearing is that I’m irresistible. Got it.”

His grin got bigger, and I huffed out a laugh. Luke sat up, and I missed the heat of his body and the weight of him immediately. He stretched, then climbed off my lap. “Stay there,” he said.

I obeyed, mainly because I wasn’t sure I could stand after coming that hard anyway.

He disappeared and came back moments later with a washcloth, wiping away the mess on my stomach before leaning in and pressing a kiss against my cheek. “Thank you.”

I snorted. “I’d say the pleasure was all mine, but I’m pretty sure we both enjoyed it.”

He looked at me, uncharacteristically serious. “No, I mean it. I was worried I’d…” He trailed off.

“Worried you’d what?” I took in his expression and pulled my sweats up. It seemed like whatever he had to say, it was a discussion best had without my junk hanging out.

Luke pulled his own clothes back on in silence, then sat in the armchair opposite me. His cheeks darkened, and he worried at his bottom lip before he said, “You know most werewolves come into their shift at puberty, right?”

“Yeah, I’d heard that,” I said, wondering where this was going.

“Right. So when I didn’t, well, I figured I must take after my dad. He’s human,” he added, picking at a loose thread on the hem of his tee. “Except it turns out I was just late to the party.”

He paused, and he sounded strangely vulnerable when he said, “The first time I shifted, I was getting pounded through the mattress.”

I wasn’t sure how to respond to that.

Congratulations on getting biology-altering dick, maybe?

But Luke was looking at me expectantly, so I said, “That must have been a hell of a shock.”

He shrugged but then nodded. “It was unexpected, yeah. But mainly it was awesome, once I got my head around it.”

I tried to imagine my body changing shape with no warning. Awesome wasn’t the word I would have used—but then, I hadn’t been raised to expect it like Luke had, I guessed.

“You still haven’t told me why you’re thanking me,” I said.

“You mean apart from being stupidly hot and letting me touch your dick?” he said, the corner of his mouth quirking up.

“Apart from that, yeah.”

Luke let out a sharp breath. “Since my shift only kicked in when I was getting dicked down, I’d been worrying that every time I came from now on, it was going to trigger my shift. And now I know that’s not true.” He shot me a smile. “So yeah, thanks.”

I stared at him as what he’d said registered, and any warm glow that had been lingering from my orgasm dissolved like cotton candy. “Wait. You thought you might shift, and you still went ahead without warning me?”

Luke sat forward, propping his elbows on his knees, his smile fading. “Um, yes? What’s the problem?”
