“Who ask?” I giggle, covering my nerves.
“Renting out a billboard is overkill. Don’t you think?” We dissolve into laughter. “Could you imagine the shit my teammates would give me?”
“You’d never live it down,” I agree.
“Seriously.” He gets out of bed and finds his phone. “I’ll share my calendar right now if you agree to be my boyfriend.”
“Don’t make me cry. Get over here and grab mine too, Mr. Bossy,” I demand, but my insides have turned to cannoli filling.
Mav does a hop-jiggy dance and dives into bed with both our phones. “Won you over,” he says smugly.
“Don’t pretend you doubted that.” I snatch my cell from him, open my calendar, and find the add calendar button. “Last chance to change your mind.” I sit across his legs, which if he did to me, he’d pin me down.
“Never. And let’s be clear, you’re the bossy bottom.” He’s already sent his workout, practice, and game schedule. “I’d add you to the team group chat to keep up on changes, but I won’t subject you to that.”
“Me? Bossy? You are mistaken, sir. But, yeah, let’s hold off on the group chat thing.” I send him my work calendar and get a slight twinge of apprehension versus panic. One step at a time, I remind myself.
“What should we do now?” he asks, raising an eyebrow.
“It’s late; we could sleep, or we could prove that being young isn’t wasted on the youth.” I toss our phones aside and wrap my arms around his neck. We’re both getting hard again.
“Is that a challenge?” His hazel eyes sparkle.
“Only if you’re willing.” I arch into him, bringing our dicks together.
“I’ll never not be willing to be with you. I’ll breed you so many times, you’ll need a doctor’s appointment to ensure you’re not pregnant.” Mav rolls, his weight pinning me.
“Yeah? I’m so into that. I’ve heard a myth that if you fuck me on my back on a full moon with my legs up, it might happen.”
“If there’s a myth, we have to prove if it’s real or not. Consider it a science experiment.” He takes my mouth in a searing kiss.
“For science,” I cheer.
Chapter 22
Maverick Maher
“This isn’t a big deal,” I say for the third time, but Sky’s leg is bouncing next to me as if he’s ready to run from our corporate offices.
His side-eye effectively silences me. To him, this meeting with Finn is a huge step. I think of it as a formality. Finn wants our opinion on language about our relationship when we decide to go public. He said for once he wants to be ahead of the leak.
Finn’s office is at the end of the hall and has a large waiting area that is considered gossip central. This team keeps Finn busy for sure.
“Hey, come in.” Finn bustles out of his office. “Sorry to keep you muffins waiting.” He waves his arm for us to enter. “Skylar, it’s great to see you again. Have a seat. This shouldn’t take too long, and I really appreciate you coming in so I’m not forced into damage control later on.” Finn sits at his desk across from us.
Sky mouths, “Muffins?” when Finn glances away to wake his computer up. I shrug. Finn loves to call us food names, and I’m not about to argue.
“Give me an idea of how much of your relationship you’re willing to feed the machine. For example, you knew each other in high school, is that something you’ll discuss? Sky, you legally changed your name, what name should we use?” Finn’s manic energy isn’t contained today.
I’m going to defer to Sky and let him take control, since he’s so nervous.
Sky clears his throat and pulls his phone out. “There’s something else you should know.” He hits a few buttons and hands it to Finn.
Finn’s eyebrows swing up into his hairline.
“Sky,” I say softly, holding my hand out to him. “You don’t have to do this.” His privacy is something he’s guarded, and potentially jeopardizing that bothers me.
Sky takes my hand in a death grip but doesn’t look at me.
