One of his pierced black eyebrows rises and he chews on his bottom lip. “You will?”

I nod and he looks relieved.

“Do you think—" I stop and grimace. “Do you think he’d be okay with me living here for a bit longer after I break up with him? Would you and Nick be okay with it?”

Jack thinks about it for a moment, regarding me in a new light. “You’d have to take the couch, but I don’t have an issue with it. I don’t think Brody or Nick will either.”

I nod and give him a small smile. “Thanks, Jack.”

“Can I ask you something?” he says, going back to spinning his keys.

“Sure.”

“Do you love him?”

Wow, going straight for the jugular. Fuck, if I’m completely honest, I don’t think I do anymore. I did once. But I can’t say that. Brody needs to hear it from me.

“I think I’ll always love a part of him, but we’re not the same people we were a year ago, and that’s okay. Things change, relationships end.”

Jack nods and says, “You’re doing the right thing, Hazel.”

Maybe.

Maybe I should have done this sooner.

The club is packed this morning as I get in—early, might I add. I spend most of my day in the snack cart again, but then I get paged into the office. Ben, my supervisor, takes me by surprise.

“Thomas, you’re caddying today,” he says, and throws me a card and pencil. “Grab a range finder, you need to be out there in ten minutes.”

“Yes!” I yell out. When he turns back to glare at me, I give him a beaming smile and a “Thank you.” Not even his sour mood can bring me down today.

I send Rosie a quick text.

I got a caddie shift today!!

The devil works fast, but the Etsy witches work faster! Get those tips girl. I’m stuck in the restaurant today BUT guess who came in??

Levi AND Ezra. He’s officially in town for the week and I may or may not have given him my number.

My eyes widen as I read and re-read the text. I knew Rosie had a crush on Ezra since the last time she saw him at the club, but I didn’t expect her to act on it.

Well, I was going to give it to him, but I chickened out and wrote it on the check. Who knows if he’ll call. But he was very flirty so *fingers crossed emoji*
