Perfect.

Like two halves of the same soul finding each other.

Rhett’s fist tightens on Paige’s top, dragging her even closer.

She moans into the kiss, tipping up Rhett’s chin.

At last, they break apart, struggling for breath.

“You’re lucky that you didn’t set off the monitors,” I say.

“I’m not attached to any.” Rhett swipes his tongue across Paige’s lower lip like he can’t bear to stop kissing her, before finally letting go of her hoodie. She feathers her fingers down his jaw. “Ain’t you meant to be a medical professional?”

Rhett pats the pillow next to him, and Paige happily turns around to settle next to him on the narrow bed.

“I am.” I wave my hand between them. “That’s why I’m pointing out that you’re breaking hospital rules. The bed is meant to be for the patient.”

Rhett takes a deliberate sniff of Paige’s neck, and she giggles like he’s tickled her.

“You told me that Omegas aid in an Alpha’s recovery.” He curls his arm around Paige, and for a moment, it’s like she has always been part of our pack; it makes my head spin. “Sorry, darlin’. Your first kiss should have been more romantic.”

“I don’t need roses and moonlight,” she replies. “I just need you.”

I leap up, twirling around. “What do you mean? A hospital ain’t romantic enough for you? Just shows that you don’t know how kinky the nurses are here, or how many doctors have met their packs in these sterile corridors. Also, where’s your loyalty? This is where you met me.”

Rhett’s lips quirk. “How could I forget?”

Paige perks up. “You were injured, and this incredible paramedic saved your ass, right? Then you fell hard for him. Now, that’s romantic.”

Rhett’s expression softens. “Something like that.”

“More like fell for my ass.” I slap my ass with a wink.

Rhett rolls his eyes.

It wasn’t Rhett who I saved. In fact, it was Luca who had fallen into an extreme rut that even Rhett couldn’t control. It was Luca who would have died.

I saved his life, but it was a damn near thing.

I was immediately entranced with Luca and dazed by Rhett’s dominance. I admired the Alpha who had been fighting so hard to help his partner. Rhett remained calm and controlled, despite his terror.

Afterward, I went to check on them throughout the three weeks that Luca was forced to remain in the hospital being treated.

After they were discharged, I couldn’t get them out of my head.

When I was alone in my apartment, I’d think about the two Cole Alphas and how easily we’d chatted and joked, as if I’d known them for years.

When Luca had been in the hospital, visiting him had been the brightest part of my day.

I was filled with guilt because of how much I wanted to bond with Luca and Rhett. I was consumed by loneliness once they left the hospital.

When the Coles returned a couple of weeks later with a thank you card for me and the rest of the staff, along with a disaster of a cake, which I respected that they’d at least tried to bake themselves, it broke me.

The rush of exhilaration that raced through me at the sight of them was devastating because I knew that I’d fallen for them.

“We wanted to thank you.” Rhett slid the burned cake onto the chair in the waiting area.

I nervously glanced around, noticing the nurses who were watching our exchange.
