Lawson lies on his back near the middle of the mattress. A woman with long brown hair lies on her side with her head resting on his shoulder.
I can’t see her features, since she’s facing the wrong direction, but Law has his arm wrapped around her and his hand resting on her ass over the blanket.
They look quite cozy.
On Lawson’s other side is the massive German shepherd that Bryant warned me about. Her face rests on his hip, and Law also has a hand lying on the mutt’s back.
Shadow would shit a brick if he saw this.
I’m tempted to pull out my phone.
Bryant will never believe me when I tell him what I walked in on.
My nose twitches as I try to pick up Abby’s scent.
Bry warned me it was like nothing he’d ever scented, but then he rambled about lightning and storms and a bunch of other shit that didn’t make sense.
She smells delicious.
Sweet and fruity.
Raspberries with hints of lemon.
Echo’s eyes pop open, and a low growl fills the air as the beast stands.
Law’s arm falls to the mattress while I debate whether I’ll have enough time to close the door if she lunges at me.
“Hush.” The woman raises a slender arm, wrapping her hand around the dog’s mouth. “I’m still tired. We’ll go out soon. More sleep.”
Huh.
She’s brave.
I’m not sure I would try that with Shadow when he’s pissed.
The dog shakes her head, trying to break free of Abby’s hold.
I almost chuckle.
Hell, if I hadn’t seen this play out firsthand, I’d never have believed it. That guarantees Bryant will call me a liar when I relay these events.
Lawson’s eyes pop open, and he immediately hones in on me. His brow furrows as he glares. He’s clearly not pleased that I interrupted their snuggle session.
Well, damn.
Maybe I was concerned about nothing.
They were doing just fine without me or Bryant around to referee.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Law says, his voice lined with sleep. He runs his hand down the woman’s back. “The roads must be clear.”
“How do you know that?” she grumbles, sounding less than pleased with the prospect of starting the day.
Law brings a hand up, patting the massive German shepherd. “You can relax. That’s an invited guest.”
“Guest?” I chuckle. “This is my place as much as it is yours.”
The woman squeaks, pushing up on her forearm and peeking over her shoulder.
