“Very impressive.”
He grins. “You can say it. I'm boyfriend material.”
My heart gives a ridiculous little jump.
He seems to realize what he's just said, too, because his smile changes slightly, but he doesn't take it back or make another joke.
Instead, he reaches for my hand, and we head back toward the parking lot.
By the time we reach the Porsche, the taco stand has closed, and most of the other cars are gone.
Wyatt opens the passenger door for me. “Have fun?”
I turn toward him. “I had a really good time.”
“Good.”
“Thank you for tonight. Seriously.”
He smiles. “You're welcome, Quinn.”
I climb in, and he closes the door before walking around to the driver's side.
Once we're back on the road, he reaches over and takes my hand.
I smile to myself and settle back into my seat, my fingers comfortably intertwined with his.
The freeway is nearly empty at this hour, and the radio plays quietly as we make our way back toward the city. I'm tired, pleasantly full, and still wearing Wyatt's hoodie, which smells faintly of him.
For once, I'm not trying to figure out what happens next or whether I'm doing any of this right.
I'm just sitting beside Wyatt, holding his hand after a date that turned out to be better than anything I could've imagined.
I glance over at him.
He's watching the road, one hand on the wheel and the other wrapped around mine.
And when he notices me looking, he gives my hand a little squeeze.
I smile and turn back toward the window, already wishing the drive home were longer.

WYATT
The Big O
Two weeks.
Whatever is going on between Quinn and me has been going on for two weels, and I'm starting to get used to having her around.
She's at my place most evenings, Pickles has pretty much decided she's his favorite person, and I've even caught myself checking the time during practice because I know she's coming over afterward.
It's fucking great.
We kiss, we make out, we cuddle, we hold hands. But we haven’t let it get further than that and she hasn’t stayed over yet.
I'm getting changed after practice when Cole brings up the upcoming break.
