"Can you believe it? A Harrington ring on a Tallon hand," I whisper.
"No." His thumb sweeps over the diamond. "It’s my ring on my little wild thing’s finger."
We stay together for another minute, my cheek resting against his chest while his heartbeat settles beneath my ear. His fingers drift lazily through my hair before he presses a kiss to the top of my head.
“Come on.”
I tilt my chin until I can see him. “Where are we going?”
“We’ll take a quick shower together.”
He gets to his feet and offers me his hand.
“Thanks,” I mutter as my legs wobble the second I stand.
A grin tugs at his mouth. “Wow. You thanked me.”
I laugh and shake my head. “I guess you’ll have to get used to the nice side of me now.”
“Does Nice Sera come out often?”
“She does.” I smirk. “But only for the right person.”
His hand settles against the small of my back, steadying me more than guiding me as we make our way into the en-suite and into the shower cubicle.
He holds his hand out. “Give it here.”
I work the ring off my finger and drop it into his palm. He unclasps the chain at the back of my neck without asking, threads the ring onto it beside the F, and fastens it again.
The two of them settle together against my breastbone, still warm from his hands.
“It looked better on your finger,” he says.
“I'll wear it properly the day I say yes.”
When I turn on the water, he reaches around me for the body wash, earning himself an unintentional elbow in the ribs.
“You take up a lot of room.”
He lathers suds over his chest, and my mind goes blank.
“I’ll get the builder to make it bigger so we can do this more often.”
He chuckles under his breath before stealing a kiss beneath the spray, and I find myself grinning.
By the time we step out, he wraps a towel around me before fastening another around his hips, then crouches in front of the vanity and pulls open the bottom drawer.
I pause halfway through rubbing my hair dry. “What are ya looking for?”
“A hairdryer.”
I narrow my eyes. “Why?”
“So I can dry your hair.”
I stare at him, my forehead fully creased. “Have ya completely lost your mind?”
He glances up without the slightest hint of embarrassment. “I’ll take that as a no.”
