“At this time, the three of us are not the owners of Helix, but we share in leadership roles. CEO,” Ilya gestures to himself, “CFO,” he nods at me, “and COO.” That nod goes to Cade.
“I can’t believe I actually know what those all are,” Sin muses.
“I’m more of an Operations and Technology hybrid.” Cade buffs his fingernails on his lapel, and I huff.
“You’re a tech junkie, more like it.”
“Don’t get mad at me because you can barely work your phone.”
“I’ve got no problems working a phone. I just don’t keep my nose in mine all day and night.”
“All right, enough.”
At Ilya’s command, Cade and I stick our tongues out at one another, and he grumbles a sigh.
“It’s like living with children.”
“Do you?”
The three of us look at Sin.
“Live together, I mean.”
“We share a penthouse, love. Keep separate bedrooms, though.”
“Sin.”
She turns to Ilya when he says her name.
“You said at the club that you weren’t staying. That you were going to be with us. Did you mean you’d be willing to move to New York?”
“If it’s okay with you, I will.”
“Of course, it is,” I nearly shout.
“We’d love for you to come live with us, but we didn’t want you to think that was the only option. We’re fully capable of running Helix from a satellite in Los Angeles.”
Sin tilts her head at Cade before giving him a huge smile. “That’s very kind of you to offer, but I have nothing here but bad memories. And the few friends I had will be just fine without me. I think that my new start, my new life, with all of you,” she glances at each of us, and then Giovanni, “deserves a new location. Deserves a chance for me to grow in new ways, far from this place.”
Sin deserves more than that. She deserves the whole world. And we intend to give it to her on a silver platter.
Chapter Thirty-Four
Sin
“Wow, this thing is huge.”
Ilya chuckles in front of me as I follow him up the lowered stairs to get into the Helix private jet. This thing is much bigger than the one Petrov flew me on, and the interior has a more modern feel to it.
Everything is white and gray and chrome, and immediately upon entering, we turn right and are in an office-like area with multiple tables and plush white chairs. There’s a couch with a round, pillowy ottoman in front of it, and some kind of designer ceiling light made of random metal shapes, all chrome and white. A big TV is mounted on a wall behind where the pilots and crew stations are.
At the back is a bedroom with a bed bigger than any I’ve ever seen before, and there’s an en suite bathroom that would rival either of the hotel suites I’ve seen recently.
When Ilya puts his bag down on the floor next to a desk in the bedroom, I fling myself onto the mattress, let my body bounce a few times as I sigh contentedly, Ilya chuckling behind me.
“Is it to your liking?”
I hum happily into the soft blankets before I roll over onto my side. “None of this feels real,” I breathe.
