Ivy reaches over and squeezes his hand. “It looks good on him, doesn’t it?”

I nod. “Just like yours is perfect for you.”

She beams at me.

I smile.

At least, I hope I do.

“Is this about Roman?” Violet asks.

Everyone looks at me.

I subtly blow out a breath. “Why would this be about Roman?”

Drew sets his drink on the table. “Because you’ve spent almost two weeks looking for him.”

“Eleven days.”

Shit. I said that way too quickly.

The table falls silent.

Well... this is awkward.

The waitress returns to ask if anyone needs a refill.

When she leaves, Violet looks at me, her expression curious. “What happens if you find him?”

I open my mouth, but nothing comes out.

At least, nothing appropriate for the table.

Drew raises a brow. “So you bought kidnapping supplies without knowing what you’re going to do when you find him?”

Violet elbows him. “You weren’t supposed to tell anyone.”

Sebastian chokes on his drink.

Ivy claps in delight. “A woman who knows what she wants. I fully support this.”

“Thank you, Ivy.”

Pride shines in her eyes over the rim of her glass.

I look at Drew. “I have ideas,” I say defensively.

Violet groans. “Please don’t elaborate.”

Drew changes the subject, asking Sebastian about the home repairs he’s having done.

Violet and Ivy start talking about Ivy’s next book.

I sit there, mindlessly eating and thinking about things I’ve never thought about anyone before.

I want to know the parts of Roman no one else does.

What makes him smile... and really laugh.
