I stumble down the stairs, exhausted and desperate for caffeine.
As I take the first sip of coffee, my hip against the counter, I come up with a new plan. Hell, it’s even practical. I need groceries, and everyone has to shop for food, right?
I grab my phone, open my Notes app, and start making a list.
I take another sip of coffee.
There’s a gym downtown. A muscular guy like Roman has to work out somewhere.
I add it to my list, figuring I can do an hour on the treadmill. Maybe a yoga class afterward if he doesn’t show while I’m doing cardio.
Excellent plan.
Then I snap my fingers.
The Hollow Creek Facebook page.
Of course.
I finish my coffee while searching the page to see if anyone posted about my sexy hitman.
Nothing.
With a heavy sigh, I go upstairs to shower.
As I pin my hair up, I catch my reflection in the mirror. A determined glow is in my eyes.
I’ll find you, Roman.
You can’t hide from me.
I push my cart through the grocery store, tossing things in on autopilot and constantly scanning for a large hitman.
So far, no sign of him.
By the time I’ve reached the produce aisle, I’m desperate.
When I spot a produce clerk, I rush over. “Excuse me.”
She turns with a smile. “Yes. How can I help you?”
“I’m looking for a really hot guy.”
She laughs. “Aren’t we all?”
I blink, then continue. “He’s about six-four.”
The clerk nods.
“Dark hair.”
“Mhm. Sounds yummy.”
I pause, then pull out my cell phone.
“He looks like smiling is physically painful.”
“So this isn’t just ‘build your ultimate dream guy’ we’re doing here?”
