“Immediately.”

He goes quiet.

Then nods once.

Hearth and Honey is packed.

Cars fill most of the small parking lot, and Roman circles once before he finds a space near the front.

People move in and out through the glass doors. A couple stands near the entrance talking. Two women sit at one of the little outdoor tables despite the cold, wrapped in coats with steaming mugs in front of them.

Roman turns off the engine. I unbuckle my seat belt.

“Callie.”

I look at him. “What?”

His gaze moves past me to the restaurant.

I wait.

“Text me.”

My chest squeezes. “I will.”

“I'm serious.”

“I know.”

I lean across the console and kiss him.

His hand comes up automatically, curling around the back of my neck.

When I pull back, his eyes stay on mine.

“Go get our baby,” I say, smiling.

Smoke groans from the back seat. “For fuck's sake.”

Roman's mouth twitches. “Your dog.”

“Whatever helps you sleep at night, Hot Lips.”

Smoke leans forward. “Hot Lips?”

Roman points toward the restaurant. “Get out.”

I laugh.

Smoke looks between us. “What the fuck is Hot Lips?”

“Ask Beck,” I say, earning a confused look from Smoke.

“Callie.”

I grab my purse, then smile at Roman. “I love you too.”

He goes completely still.
