Only then do I get out.

I'm halfway to the front door when it opens. Callie stands there, a wide smile on her face. Something in my chest pulls tight.

Then her gaze drops to the iPad.

Her mouth falls open. “Oh my God.”

I keep moving toward her.

“You didn't.”

“Move.”

“You went back for his iPad?”

“Callie.”

Her eyes get huge. “You went back to Bramble for Alibi's iPad.”

“He was pouting.”

Both hands fly to her chest.

Fuck.

“Don't.”

“We're getting married.”

“No.”

“October.”

“No.”

“Definitely October. The foliage will be gorgeous.”

I stop in front of her. “We're not getting married.”

“That's exactly what someone overwhelmed by the speed of our love would say.”

I hold the tablet out. She doesn't take it.

Instead, she stares at me with the softest fucking expression I've ever seen on her face.

“It was on my way.”

It wasn't.

Her smile grows. “I didn't ask.”

“I know.”

“Which means you voluntarily—”

“Take the fucking iPad.”

She takes it. “You love my dog.”
