One cuff closes around my wrist. The click echoes through the room. Heat slides down my spine.

Roman goes completely still behind me.
I bite my lip. “Sorry.”
“You don't sound sorry.”
“I'm trying.”
He takes my arm.
“You're arresting me?”
“No.”
“Kidnapping?”
“No.”
“Because technically I kidnapped you first, so this feels like escalation.”
He says nothing.
“Roman?”

He loops the second cuff through the refrigerator handle. Click.
“You're handcuffing me to your refrigerator?”

My pulse skips.
