“Right. Mysterious hitman. We’ll circle back to you.”
“We can’t be involved.”
Sure we can.
“I didn’t ask you to propose. I asked for your name.”
“No.”
“Is that your name?”
“No.”
“Good. Because ‘No’ would be weird.”
His eyes close. “Are you always like this?”
“Mostly.”
His grip loosens on my hips, and I begin rolling them again.
“Dammit, woman.” He tries to grab them, but I smack his hands away.
His eyes pop open.
“Tell me your name and I’ll stop.”
“Why do I think that’s a lie?”
“Won’t know until you try.”
He sighs again.
I don’t think he’s going to tell me, but then he finally rasps out, “Roman.”
“Nice to meet you, Roman No-Last-Name.” My smile widens. “There. Now you know me.”
“You are the strangest woman I’ve ever met.”
“I’ve been called worse.”
He snorts. “I don’t doubt it.”
My heart is pounding faster. His full lips are impossible to resist.
Before he can react, I lean in and press my lips against his.
A weak groan slips out… and then his hands cup my face.
And he kisses me back.
I moan against him, the sensation unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.
I mean, sure, I’ve kissed plenty of men since my first kiss at sixteen. But this is a whole other level.
My breath hitches… and he immediately pauses, then pulls back.
My eyes fly open, fear flooding through my veins like ice water.
