I drum my fingers against the steering wheel.
Alibi sits beside me in the passenger seat, staring through the windshield.
“You're not helping.”
His tail thumps against the seat.
“I need ideas.”
Another thump.
“Good talk.”
I grab my iced coffee and take a drink.
I've tried following Roman. Failed.
I've tried putting an AirTag on his truck. Failed.
Roman knows what my car looks like.
He knows my disguises.
And he knows I've been trying to find his house.
Which means he's expecting me.
I narrow my eyes.
That's the problem. I'm trying to stalk a man who knows I'm stalking him.

A truck pulls into the parking lot. My brows furrow.
I’ve seen it before.
The driver's door opens, and a tall man gets out. Dark blond hair. Broad shoulders. Familiar face.
I slowly lower my coffee. “No fucking way.”
Alibi looks at me.
I stare across the parking lot.
I've seen him before. He’s the guy who dropped Roman at the gym after I put all those sticky notes on Roman’s truck.
It’s Beck.
He closes his door and heads toward Bramble & Bean.
My heart starts beating faster. Not because I'm attracted to him. I mean, he's objectively attractive. But that's irrelevant. I've already chosen my emotionally unavailable giant.
This is something better.
An opportunity.
