“He's in her town.” The words are out before I can stop them.

Bishop doesn't miss shit. “Her town?”
I close my eyes. “Forget I said that.”
“No.”
“Bishop.”
“Interesting.”
“Don't.”
“I'm not doing anything.”
“You're thinking.”
“I do that occasionally.”

His low laugh comes through the phone.
It disappears almost immediately. “Mercer is dangerous.”
“I gathered that.”
“I'm serious.”
“So am I.”
“If the woman has nothing to do with this, make sure it stays that way.”
My voice goes flat. “It will.”
My phone vibrates against my ear. The file has arrived.
“I'll look at it.”
“Tomorrow.”
“What about tomorrow?”
“Surveillance. Learn his routine. Find out who he's looking for. Don't move until we know why he's here.”
