“Hypothetically, if I needed to borrow your car—”
“No.”
“—for a perfectly legal activity—”
“No.”
“—that doesn't involve kidnapping anyone—”
“Absolutely not.”
I sigh. “You're being very closed-minded.”
“You're trying to borrow my car to stalk a hitman.”
“I never said that.”
“You didn't have to.”
Huh.
Apparently Roman is rubbing off on her.
Violet answers on the third ring. “What did you do?”
I frown as I walk into my bedroom. “Why do you always answer the phone like that?”
“Experience.”
“Roman is James.”
She pauses for a beat. “Who?”
“James Miller.”
“Your stalker?”
“Yes.”
“The stalker you were excited about?”
“I wasn't excited.”
“You conducted experiments.”
“That was research.”
“You posted a turkey sandwich to see if he'd watch it.”
“And he did.”
Violet groans.
“But he won't tell me where he lives.”
“Why do you need to know where he lives?”
I stare at her. “So it’s fine for you to stalk Drew, but I’m not supposed to stalk my hitman.”
