My irritation softens a little.
After almost two weeks of looking for him, he's standing right in front of me.
“Since you found me, let's test something.”
His gaze snaps back to me. “What?”
I tap my phone’s camera. “I'm going to post a Story.”
“No.”
My finger stops. Slowly, I look up.
“Why not?”
“Because this is ridiculous.”
“You just told me you're not James. Why do you care what I post?”
“I don't.”
I grin. “No. I bet you don't.”
“Chaos.”
I aim my phone toward Bramble's brick wall and snap a picture, making sure Roman isn't in the frame. Then I add text to the image. Interrogating a suspicious man. Wish me luck.
Roman reads it over my shoulder. “Don't post that.”
“Why?”
“Because it's ridiculous.”
“That's never stopped me before.”
I post it. Then lower my phone.
He doesn't move. Neither do I.
Thirty seconds turn into a minute.
“What are you waiting for?”
“I'm waiting to see how long it takes James to watch it.”
He rolls his eyes. “I don't have time for this.” He turns toward the parking lot. “I'm leaving.”
“No!”
Roman stops.
That came out more desperate than I intended.
He turns back, his brows raised.
I clear my throat. “I mean, you don't have to.”
His gaze stays on me.
