I need a custom spell, again

I found the love of my life, but apparently your previous work only covered finding her

I’d like to keep her

Permanently, if possible

Once I’m done writing, I read the message twice, then I press send.

My entire body immediately fills with adrenaline.

“Oh, fuck.”

Flora looks up. “What’s wrong?”

“Oh, just a work thing.”

Her eyebrows pull together. “Merry, I—”

At exactly the same moment, Flora’s phone buzzes on the coffee table. She looks at the screen for a beat, then at me. Then back at the screen. Her expression changes so slowly that I get to watch every piece of it happen. Confusion first. Then recognition. Then whatever it is that makes her lips part.

“Merry.” I smile, and she looks at her phone again. “Oh my god.”

“Please continue reading before you form an opinion.”

Her eyes lift to mine.

“Read.”

She does. Her eyes move across the screen, and I am able to tell exactly where she is when her hand comes up to cover her mouth.

I know your shop doesn’t guarantee results

And I know you don’t technically believe in magic

Or maybe you do now. You’ve become just a little bit inconsistent on that point.

But I don’t need a guarantee this time.

I know what I want.

I noticed her. I wanted her. I asked. I chose her. I acted.

And I believe.

Flora makes a sound that lands somewhere between a laugh and a sob, and my own eyes start burning.

Shit.

I was hoping to make it at least another thirty seconds.

So I don’t need a spell to tell me what happens next
