“We can do that.” G steps forward. “However, the man is somewhat of a chameleon. He’s been here before, multiple times as far as we can tell, so some of you might have encountered him already. I’ll show you any images I can find with him in, but I suspect this guy could fool his own mother if he wanted to.”

“I’ll know him, no matter what he looks like,” I say without thinking.

“It’s been a while since you’ve seen him. The man’s a master of disguise.”

“It doesn’t matter. I could always sense when he was near. I thought it was a soulmate thing. It turns out you have to have a soul for that shit.”

“I think you were just sensing evil.” Powers winks at me. I shrug. He’s probably right.

“What you can do is be smart. Please don’t write off suspicious behavior. If you have a permit to carry, do so. You all have mine and my officers’ numbers—use them if you need them—and we’ll get to you as fast as we can.”

John folds his arms. “What about security footage?”

“What about it?”

“Some of us have cameras. We even have one of those fancy Ring doorbells. Think you might be able to use those to track this guy’s whereabouts?”

“If he’s in town, maybe. And it will depend on if you have a closed circuit…” G drifts off when he realizes he’s losing people. “I’ll come take a look and connect the ones I can to an app on a cell phone, if that’s okay with everyone.”

“Having the MC on standby in the event of trouble? Hell yeah, we’re game,” Mike calls out.

“Alright, well, we have a lot to go over. Those who want to see me about getting help to relocate, stick around. Anyone who wants to talk to G about security is welcome to stay too. The rest of you might as well go home and get some sleep. We’re going to all need our wits about us,” Havoc calls out as a man in the back stands up,

“What about the police? You said they’re looking and that some of them are in this guy’s pocket. I don’t know what that means.” Karl frowns. “Can we trust our local cops or not?”

Havoc hesitates for a moment before laying it out. “Truthfully? I don’t know.”

“It went better than I thought it would. People were understanding. I wasn’t expecting that.”

“People have let you down a lot over the years. It’s hardly surprising you don’t always have faith in them.”

“Yeah, but here…”

He rolls us so I’m underneath him. “Yes, here too. Jesus, Lil, you came here in hopes of escaping a monster and ended up facing down more. You were betrayed by a woman whom you’d hoped to find solidarity with and were then almost forgotten about while the club put itself back together.”

“That part probably worked in my favor,” I admit.

“It doesn’t matter. It still left you to figure things out alone, yet again.”

I reach up and hook my fingers through his dog tags, tugging his head down to mine so I can kiss him. “I’m not alone anymore, though,” I murmur against his lips.

“And if I get my way, you won’t ever be again.”

His lips move against mine, slow and teasing, his tongue dipping in to play with mine. I widen my legs and feel him hot and hard where he presses against me. I moan into his mouth, arching up into him before I wrap my leg around his hips.

“You need some sleep.”

“Then you better fuck me quickly.”

He grins and then, without warning, he thrusts into me, bottoming out inside me.

“Kieren!” I gasp, which rips a groan from him as he does exactly what I asked, fucking me hard and deep, marking me from the inside out.

“No better place than being buried inside you.”

“Please,” I find myself begging, but I don’t know what I’m begging for.
