His Cruel Exception

by M.A. DeVant

“Consider it done,” I say.

Nothing irks me more than theft.

We pay our employees well above minimum wage, send their children to private schools, sponsor their weddings, pay off their mortgages, and provide enough financial assistance to ensure that they never have to worry about meeting their basic needs. We've deliberately structured things this way because in a business where competitors are constantly looking for ways to gain an advantage, we can't afford to have our employees entertaining offers from every ambitious bastard who approaches them with a little extra money.

I don't waste my time feeling sorry for traitors or thieves. Everyone who works for us understands the rules, and I make certain they understand what happens when those rules are broken.

I exchange a few more words with Father before ending the call and then open the group chat I share with my cousins.

Who’s in for a little fun?

Enzo

Hunt fun or the other kind of fun?

Marco

Why would there be a hunt in broad daylight?

Enzo

I would hunt my last prey in broad daylight, I don’t give a fuck.

Carmine

I’m bored at work. Count me in.

Raffaele

Sign me up.

Marco

You guys are just going to blindly agree because he says fun? I need more information.

Romero and Liam

Raffaele

I volunteer to take Romero out, I don’t like the man.

Carmine

It’s because he fucked Cynthia and you were in love with her.

Raffaele

Potato Potahto

Meet at The Bloodrot.
