I rise onto my tiptoes and kiss Owen, trying not to linger on how good it feels, how warm it is in his arms, and how many hours there are until I can be back here again.
“See you at four,” Owen says.
There’s a little pause where I want to tell him I miss him already, that I don’t want to spend six hours away from him, and then a thought occurs to me.
“Am I okay to tell people about this?” I wave my hand between us, and Owen smirks.
“What, like specifics? Like how huge I am or how many times we—”
“No!” I cut in, equally horrified and amused. “Not that. I just mean about us, about… this. Whatever this is.”
His eyes narrow slightly. “What do you think it is?”
I don’t even hesitate. “This is two people who find each other attractive, really like each other, and have decided to be together because they really want to.”
“Hm.” Owen shrugs lightly.
“Why? What would you say this is?”
“I’d say this is two incredibly attractive people who have finally found each other.”
Yes, I’m definitely in heaven.
“Okay,” I laugh. “That as well.”
“You can tell the whole department, the whole company. I don’t care. You can shout it from the rooftops and say whatever you want, because all I care about is that you’re here at four o’clock when I come to pick you up.”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
His eyes narrow. “I don’t know. You might decide I’m not for you, that this isn’t what you want.”
For the first time in the last few hours, there’s a seed of doubt spread across his face. Those little worry lines that have been a permanent fixture for the whole time I’ve known him are back.
Placing my hand on his chest, I look him in the eye. “Owen, I’m not going anywhere. Besides, you can’t do the things you did to me last night and this morning and expect me not to come back for more, can you?”
“Nice to know you just want me for one thing.” He rolls his eyes.
“Better than not wanting you at all.” I smirk.
“I guess.”
“Now, I seriously have to go; otherwise, I’ll have no job for you to collect me from. See you at four.”
“Four.”
I walk up to the building, and sure enough, when I turn around, he’s still standing by his car watching me.
As I enter the staff area, Taylor is stuffing her bag into her locker as I head over to mine.
“Hey,” she says and almost does a double-take. “Why are you smiling like that? It’s Sunday. It’s a beautiful day, and we’re working. You have no right to walk in here with that smile unless….” She scrunches up her eyes. “No way. You didn’t. Oh my God, you did. You got laid last night. Holy shit. How, when, and who? I want to know all the details.” She leans against her locker, folding her arms.
“You won’t believe me,” I say.
“Try me. Unless you say you slept with Henry Cavill or Chris Hemsworth. Those two, I might struggle with.”
I shove my jacket into my locker, my cheeks almost hurting from the amount of smiling I’ve been doing.
“He’s tall, handsome, very well presented, impeccable dress sense, someone you know, and very green-fingered,” I purr, stuffing my bag into my locker.
