And then I think about someone else's hands on her, dragging her away while she screams my name, but I’m not there to save her.
The railing groans under my grip.
After organizing one of my men to pick up Deno and Freddie, I call my brother.
John Marco picks up on the first ring. "Are you checking up on me—"
"Sunny's been taken."
His silence is loud.
"Where are you?" His voice drops.
"Fortune.”
I tell him what Deno told me.

“Have you spoken with Tommy?”
“He’s not answering.”
“Fuck, fuck, fuck.” I can hear the stress in his voice. “Okay, I’m five minutes away.”

I end the call.

They keep me in a dimly lit room with brick walls and a cold concrete floor. I sit at a small metal table, my hands shaking as I wait. I’m desperately trying not to panic, but my body remembers all too clearly what it means to be trapped with a man who has power over me.
But no matter what happens, I am surviving this. I am determined of the outcome. Because I’ve done it once, and I’ll do it again.
I know it’s true because I’m married to Dante Di Zaro, and he will come for me. I know what he is capable of, and I know he will tear this town apart to find me.
I don't know how much time passes before Anton and Flynn reappear, but it feels like hours.
Anton walks in like he is a God, while Flynn steps in quietly behind him.
Anton sits down opposite me while Flynn remains standing.
"You're comfortable?" he asks.
I stare at him.
