Liam laughed. “Soph, you gotta stop with that nonsense and listen to me about these things. I’m an expert.”
I laughed. “Hardly. You’re a freshman.”
“Well, everyone I’ve dated is way older than any of us. And it’s really hot when a girl takes it in the face.” He shook his head. “There is just something about cum dripping down a girl’s chin, am I right?”
RJ high fived him.
“So disrespectful,” Axel said.
“Which is why you’re not going to do that to my sister,” Liam said.
“He’s not wrong you know,” Adonis whispered as his hands slid down my back. “You looked so hot. Right before you panicked. It means the opposite of what you thought. But I promise to never to do it again.”
If it meant the opposite, why had Mr. Halifax done it and left?
I shook the thought away and looked up at Adonis. I didn’t care why Mr. Halifax had left. Because his leaving had led me to Adonis. And I was pretty sure I was exactly where I needed to be.
Adonis ran his fingers through my hair.
“So if you actually thought I was good at that...”
“I think I said otherworldly.”
I laughed. “Does that mean you want to do it again? Maybe without the whole Miss Hunter thing?”
He smiled. “I actually thought that was really sexy.”
“I just want it to be you and me.”
“Hm. You and me.” He smiled. “I really like the sound of that.”
“Me too.”
“So how about you take off the protective friend’s jacket and put on mine instead?” He shrugged out of his varsity jacket.
“That’s something you give a girlfriend.”
“I know what it means, Aphrodite.” He pulled Jacob’s jacket off my shoulders and replaced it with his. “And apparently I have a whole football team to ward off. So I’m gonna need you to wear this at all times.”
I laughed. “You really are obsessed with me.”
He reached up, running his thumb along my jaw. “You don’t know the half of it.”
Chapter 33 – You Private School Girls
Monday
I hadn’t gotten to see Adonis for the rest of the weekend. He’d had plans with his father on Saturday and then I’d watched the Super Bowl with my family on Sunday. I would have invited him, but it was just family. Besides, it was at my place, and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt.
But I’d hardly paid attention to the game. It wasn’t like the Giants were playing. They’d sucked ever since they’d traded Saquon Barkley to the Eagles years ago. My team had been cursed ever since.
All I could think about was Adonis. I realized I didn’t even know who his favorite team was. Was he watching the game with his dad? Did his dad look like him?
I didn’t want to text him a million times like a psycho. But I wanted to know everything about him. I was a ball of energy ever since he’d called me his.
I felt like me again. And I couldn’t wait to see my boyfriend again. I smiled as RJ pulled the car into our usual spot at school.
“No one’s even here yet,” he grumbled.
