Baylor glances at me, then at the drink menu on the counter.
"What do you want?" I ask.
"I can buy my own drink."
"I figured. What do you want?"
She gives me a look before ordering. I add a water for myself and wait while the bartender makes her drink.
"Good game," she says.
My head turns.
"I’m capable of saying it out loud. It was a good game, no matter how much it pains me to see you win."
"Apparently."
She nods instead of telling me I deserved it. I appreciate that more than I probably should.
"What were you making tonight?" I ask.
"Three little pigs cake pops. First birthday party."
"Did you make the wolf?"
"Of course."
"Handsome?"
"He’s made of cake, Wolf."
"Still waiting on an answer."
"They turned out adorable, actually. Boxed and ready. Your cupcakes are beside the coffee maker."
I grin, and she takes a drink before I can say anything else.
Across the room, Ellie stands and waves us over. Natalia is putting on her jacket.
"We’re going dancing," Ellie announces when we reach them.
Baylor looks at her. "We are?"
"You’re already wearing shoes. Most of the work is done."
"I have deliveries in the morning."
"One hour."
"That’s what you said about coming here."
"And look how well that turned out."
Natalia laughs and takes Baylor’s jacket off the chair, handing it to her.
"Come with us. We finally got Ellie out. She can’t be the only one who stays."
Baylor looks at me.
