I look at him and try not to think about never having this again.

It doesn’t work.

A tear slips down my cheek. The water carries it away before I can wipe it, but he sees.

His mouth softens against mine.

"Stay with me," he murmurs.

"I’m here."

"I know. Keep looking at me."

I do, although it gets harder when his fingers move inside me. My breath catches, my hands tightening against his back.

"There?" he asks.

I nod, and he does it again.

My knees start to give. He draws me closer, holding me steady against the wall while I catch his mouth with mine, but I want him inside me when I come apart.

I line his head up to my center and he rocks into me, his head pressing into me as I moan out his name.

My fingers slip against his cheek. I catch his jaw and bring his mouth back to mine, unwilling to waste even the time it takes to find him again.

"You were worth it Baylor… so fucking worth it," he says as he fills me over and over until I can't hold back anymore.

I come hard against him and then he follows after, no protection, nothing between us for once.

After we both come down and catch our breath, he turns me to wash me, setting my feet on the tile shower floor. The shower water hits my back as Wolf takes a loofa and washes between my thighs slowly, and up my stomach, over my breasts. He takes his time and I’m in no rush for either of us to leave this shower.

After he finishes, he washes himself and brushes wet hair away from my face with his finger, but I catch his wrist and kiss his palm before he can lower it.

His eyes stay on mine.

I’ve never seen him look at me quite like this.

I pull him closer.

For a while, I manage to think about nothing except kissing him. The way he follows when I move. How his hand spreads against my back, keeping me close even when I pause.

Then tomorrow gets into my head again.

"I don’t know how to go downstairs tomorrow and pretend this was nothing."

Wolf draws back just far enough to look at me.

"Who said you had to?"

"We agreed—"

"I know what we agreed on." His thumb moves against my cheek. "It still wasn’t nothing. We’re not breaking apart because we grew as different people, or want different things. It’s because of circumstances that we can’t undo. This isn’t some bad breakup where we cross the street to avoid each other in the future. I think this might be the first time people started out on worse terms and became better friends at the end of it."

"We’re friends?" I ask. I hadn’t thought about it like that.

"We might have decided that this doesn’t go beyond tomorrow, but I sure as hell don’t want to go back to what we were when Rooks flooded your apartment."

I smile up at him. "No.. me either."
