“It’s mine nigga.”
“How are you holding your baby with that raggedy ass arm?” I joked.
“Fuck you nigga. It ain’t stopped shit. I’m still getting pussy with a half arm and all. Fuck you mean. They know I got money and that’s all they care about.”
“Law, can you help me get something from the cabinet real quick,” Summer interrupted.
“I’m about to head out anyway and go check on my baby. Summer, it’s good to see you feeling better. My baby mama wants her lashes done as soon as you start back up. She looking like a damn bald Kermit right now.”
All three of us laughed. LJ was back to himself, and it felt good to have my friend back. He wasn’t letting his arm get in the way of shit. It had a lot to do with us taking the nigga out that did the shit to him in the first place.
“I’ll be starting back next week, hopefully. I’ll text her and let her know.”
“We didn’t discuss this shit,” I told her.
She ignored me as she stood with her arms folded over her chest. I didn’t have to walk LJ to the door because he wasn’t a guest in our home; he was family. As soon as the door closed, I went in on Summer.
“You can stand there looking stupid if you want to but you are not taking any appointments. All that damn bending and shit will not be happening until after you have my baby. You need to rest and enjoy doing nothing.”
“Now, any other time you always hollering about me making some money and now you trying to stop my muthafuckin bag.”
“Nah, if your dumb ass would’ve opened that business, you would be able to sit your ass down somewhere while your shit was up and running making its own money and shit, but you wanted to run off with another nigga and live your best life.” When it slipped out of my mouth, I knew I fucked up and opened the door for her to bring up my shit.
“We going there? I can go there now. Yea, I went and lived my best life with a muthafucka I had a little history with but you fucking with a bitch you don’t even know. Matter of fact, you had so much fun with that hoe that you almost caused me a miscarriage. So, don’t fucking go there with me.”
“Fuck you want out the cabinet so I can get away from you before we start arguing about some stupid shit.”
“I need the mixing bowl so I can make me a pound cake.”
I grabbed the mixer and the bowl and put it on the counter. It was my fault that we went there, but damn I didn’t want to hear shit about Pinkie and I. I been avoiding her ass for weeks now. She wasn’t calling or texting so I was really thankful that she wasn’t the stalking type. I went to grab my keys and Summer walked out of the kitchen with that bullshit.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m just about to get some air. Us being in the house together all the time ain’t helping. I’ll call you to see what you want to eat.”
“I’m cooking and you know that. But go ahead and get your fresh air.” She waved me off and went on about her business.
I got in my car and turned the music up so loud as I left from in front of the house. I didn’t know where I was going but I didn’t want to argue with her. Summer had me in my feelings when she brought up the shit I did to her. Every time she mentioned it, it was like she was wanted to break down and cry but she wanted to put on this hard persona to hide her feelings.
Pulling my car into the parking spot, I got out and headed inside the store. To settle this shit between Summer and me, I was about to do some grown man shit. The only way to prove to her that I was about her and only her was to marry her ass. That’s what women wanted anyway. She was pregnant with my first child and I wasn’t going anywhere and neither was she. I looked around at all the rings but didn’t find anything worth buying until I set my eyes on a diamond ring that was blinding me.
“I see she caught your eye too. She catches everyone’s eye until they see the price tag on her.”
“Let me see the ring.”
“Did you hear what I said? The price tag will quickly make you change your mind.”
“Do I look like I give a damn about a price tag? Don’t make me act like a nigga in this bitch and punch you in your damn face. Matter fact, ring that shit up and put it in a nice pretty box for me with your pussy ass.”
He scurried off to get the key to unlock the glass case and get the ring. I added a nice bracelet to go along with it just to piss his ass off. I couldn’t stand for a muthafucka to judge me. I owned several businesses and I did my shit on the side. I could spend money or I could be smart and save that shit for moments like this. I paid for my shit, walked out of the store and headed home.
I wasn’t gone but a little over an hour. Summer was still in the kitchen on her damn feet. She looked up from her phone to see me walking in the kitchen but she smacked her damn teeth and went and sat in the den.
“You got an attitude?” I asked her.
“Where you been?”
“Do you have a fucking attitude?”
