“Your art is beautiful,” she said. “I don’t even know what to say.”
This was a lot of information to digest. Her mind was whirling, playing back so many things that had happened over the months.
“So, if you’re not going to kill me, why am I not safe?”
“Because if I don’t pull the trigger, they’ll get someone else who will,” he said.
“Why would someone want to kill me? I’m nobody.”
“You witnessed the crime. They want all loose ends eliminated.”
“Can’t you tell them I’m not going to do anything? I don’t even know who them are.”
“I’ll fix this. I’m going to find out who the put out the contracts. I don’t care how many of them there are. Baby, I’ll kill them all for you.”
Why did the fact her boyfriend would literally kill for her make her hot? She was a sick freak. But she still couldn’t turn off that switch. She wrapped her arms around his neck as his mouth crashed into hers, and every coherent thought vanished.
She kissed him back just as fiercely, opening to him without hesitation, needing more—more of his mouth, more of the heat pouring off him, more of whatever this was that had her heart hammering against her ribs. His kiss was hungry and consuming, and she met it with an urgency that surprised even her.
Her fingers slid into his hair, gripping as she pulled him closer, though there was hardly any space left between them. She couldn’t seem to get close enough. Every sweep of his mouth sent another rush of heat through her, leaving her dizzy and breathless and completely unwilling to stop.
When they finally broke apart for air, she barely managed a breath before chasing his mouth again.
She wasn’t finished with him. Not even close.

“We should probably get out of here. Someone was already tailing you,” he said.
She pushed his shirt off his shoulders. “You’ll protect me.”
Fuck, she drove him crazy. And she was right. Nothing was getting between them, not even heaven or hell.
His little firecracker was hot and bothered, and he wasn’t going to refuse her. He wanted to get her to his apartment where he could keep her safe until he sorted through this shitshow. But he wouldn’t deny her.
Her body called to him. The relief from telling her everything was an aphrodisiac. His cock has rock hard in his jeans, throbbing to get inside of her.
He’d expected fear. Hell, he’d prepared himself for disgust. Instead, her body pressed against his, and the look in her eyes was doing dangerous things to what little control he had left.
“You’re not afraid of me?” he asked.
“No.”
“You should be.”
Her lips curved. “Why? Did you change your mind? Are you going to kill me?”
His expression hardened instantly. “Don’t even fucking joke about that.”
Something flickered in her eyes.
Heat.
Jesus Christ.
He stared at her. “That turns you on?”
“No,” she said.
