And that’s why I fell instantly for her. She doesn’t just say my name. She breathes it. She makes it come to life; she makes me come to life. It hasn’t even been forty-eight hours since she entered my life; but I don’t give a damn. My life doesn’t feel like it started until I laid eyes on that beautiful woman, my wife.

I never thought I would find a woman who consumes me as much as Laney has in the short time I've known her. My mind has raced with the possibilities having her in my life might bring. I never thought I wanted what she represents. I always thought it was impossible really. Love, love was impossible, attraction yes, lust, definitely, but love, no, not real. Love was a fable, made up by people who wanted something in their life. Love made people weak and easily manipulated. Love made my mother a pawn in my father's life game of chess. She was never his queen, only a piece to gain what he always wanted—power. Too bad that I made sure he never succeeded. I loved my mother and my sister unconditionally, but learning to love another who didn't have the same blood running through my veins was something I never wanted. Until now. Until Laney. Now my mind is opened to the possibility.

Last night when I walked up to the entrance of Inferno and saw Laney’s red hair flowing as she moved to the music that came barreling out of the club, I knew she was it for me. The way she looked sealed the deal on the two days of me getting to know her. There will never be anyone else. She had this energy about her. She was still guarded, but maybe she was opening up to the idea of allowing me in her life. I knew I couldn't let that opportunity go. I had to make my move, and I did just that.

“Do you honestly expect me to believe that we’re married? Come on, Nathan, from what you know of me, do you think I would do something like that? That Stella, who I trust with my life, would allow me to make such a huge and obscene mistake.”

“Well I did hear you tell me I was obscenely huge last night, but I don’t think the word that followed that description was a mistake. I think it was more along the lines of—”

“Stop, stop right there.” She holds up one hand while the other hand grips the crisp white sheets tightly to her chest. It’s cute, especially since I know and remember every inch of her, from the curves of her tits to the freckles that flow down her back in a constellation like pattern, all the way down to her ticklish toes

Most of all, I know that the drapes match the carpet, and boy does she wear it well.

“Love, I can’t stop." I chuckle at her reaction to all this. I close my eyes and have a little fun with her. "Or maybe I can, maybe I can stop, stop right there." My voice goes soft, trying to mock how she sounded when I was buried deep inside of her. "Because it feels so good, Nathan. Those were your exact words about four hours ago.”

“Can you be serious for a minute? I’m freaking out here, okay? And it’s not just the fact that I think I’m still drunk and this may all be a very graphic, very real feeling dream.”

“Okay.”

“Now, what are we going to do? What am I going to do? Did we seriously get married last night, please tell me this is a practical joke.”

“We are definitely, legally married. We did the deed last night and by deed I mean marriage." I give her a wink which causes her to roll her eyes. I know she's freaking out because our actions last night were not the normal for Laney. I've never been this happy in my life and I want to see the same happiness in her eyes. "The other deed came later." I take her left hand into mine, noticing how much smaller it is than mine. She's so delicate and fragile that I can feel the urgency to protect her grow within me. "I had the jeweler open at about one o’clock this morning where you saw and fell in love with the ring that’s currently sitting on your finger." The platinum shines in the morning light, the diamonds sparkle with every rotation of the ring as I play with it. "We went down to city hall to get the paperwork, and you, Troy, Stella, and I took a trip to the Little White Chapel. The deal was sealed by two-thirty this morning and by five we’d consummated it three times. It’s now eight, so I’m ready to go when you are.” I move in to take her lips with mine.

“How can I not remember any of that?" Her words stop me. "I mean, I admit, there are flashes here and there that may confirm what you’re telling me. But this isn’t me." Her eyes dart around the room. She bites her lip. "I’m not spontaneous like this. I don’t do this." She looks at me and something flashes in her eyes. "Oh, my God, did you drug me? That’s it, you must have drugged me.”

I was not expecting that response.

“I didn’t drug you Laney. I should be offended that you think so little of me. You were the one who suggested it."

"That doesn't sound like me."

"I know; we were all shocked when you brought it up. You gave a great argument."

"I'm sure." She says rolling her eyes.

"Yes, you’re the one who made the firm argument that we've clicked from day one."

"That day was only two days ago, Nathan. How irresponsible can you be?"

"There isn't an irresponsible bone in my body. But you’re the one who told me that you haven’t felt safe in a very long time. That with me you can almost feel what real happiness is like. You told me you never wanted to spend another day without the feeling. I admit, I’m the one who suggested we never let it go. Maybe it was a rush decision, maybe it was spur of the moment, but I asked you to marry me and you said yes.”

“Really?”

“Let me tell you something, I don’t lie and I certainly don’t cheat." I take both her hands in mine allowing the sheet to puddle around her waist. Damn she was fine. “Don’t you feel the connection; don’t you feel what I feel? What I’ve felt since the moment I laid eyes on you? You're mine, Laney.”

I kiss her and with every fiber of my being, I show her that she’s mine, my life, my wife and I’m going to have a hell of a good time proving to her just how much I mean it. I hold her face while she grips my wrists, and I try to show my wife what she already means to me. Breaking the kiss, I take a minute to gather my thoughts. “I know this isn't conventional. I know, even with the short time I've known you, you aren't the type of person to make rash decisions and I’m sorry if you're regretting what we've done. But I'm not. I'll never regret making you my wife, I can give two shits that we don't know each other because I always rely on my gut and my gut is telling me that you're it. But I don't want to push you; I don't want you to feel you don't have any options because you do. So right now I'm giving you those options. One, we can continue last night’s and this morning’s festivities, I can make sweet love to you, my wife; I can fuck you to the moon and back. I can make you come seven ways to Sunday.” I lean in to kiss that sweet neck of hers. She moans. I knew she would. I may have kissed, licked, and nibbled her neck over one hundred times already and each and every time she lets out a soft moan. Each. And. Every. Time. “Or two, we can get dressed, head downtown, and make as if last night never happened. I will not question your reasons why and I will not guilt you.” I kiss her again. I know she won’t pick option two. If there’s one thing that I am certain in my life, it’s that Laney is mine.

“Fuck me to the moon and back, Nathan.” she says with a smile.

“Ahh, there’s the woman I married.” So I do what she wants; I will always do what she wants.
