Whisper

I hand him the drink and watch as he walks back to the table and sits down. I can’t hear him from here, but I see him push the glass towards the birthday boy.

“Sucks to be that guy,” one of Whisper’s friends says.

“Is he gonna hurt him?” I ask.

“Maybe. Depends how compliant he is.”

Birthday boy is shaking his head rapidly now as Whisper holds the drink out. His two friends look nervous. Gus is watching from the back of the club, and my stomach is tight, waiting to see what Whisper does.

Whisper leans in very close in an obviously threatening manner, and whatever he says makes the birthday boy lift the glass and drink down the cocktail. All three men look terrified now as Whisper says something else and then leaves the table. He walks directly over to Gus and they have a brief discussion. Gus nods, keeping his attention trained on that table.

When Whisper returns to me, he smiles and sits. “Do you have time to sit for a minute?”

“Yes.” I take the seat next to him. “What did you do?”

“He swore it didn’t have anything in it so I told him to drink it. He wouldn’t, and then I told him he’d wake up choking on his own dick if he didn’t do what I asked. So he did.”

“God, you’re fucking hot.”

“I don’t fuck with rapists, and especially not someone trying to hurt my man. He might die tonight anyway. Fucker.”

My dick swells. “Definitely hot.”

“You were stunning tonight. I didn’t know you could sing.”

“I don’t do it often. Some nights the crowds aren’t into it. Whenever we get women in here though, they love it.”

“I never see women here.”

“Once or twice a month we’ll get some in. I love those nights. Women are enthusiastic without being creepy about it. Sure, they objectify us, but that’s the point. They keep their hands to themselves though.”

“Do you like working here?”

I nod. “I do. It’s way better than stripping and I make more than I could at a traditional job for half the hours.”

He nods, reaching under the table to rub my thigh, then one of his brothers clears his throat, making Whisper chuckle.

“Sorry. This is Blush, but you guys know that. Blush, my brothers Ghost and Phantom.”

“Nice to meet you,” I say.

“Super nice to meet the man occupying our Whisper’s time,” Ghost says.

Phantom smacks Ghost’s arm. “Don’t be weird, man.”

“How am I being weird?” Ghost complains.

“Oh, hello,” Phantom says, to someone behind me.

I turn to see Ivy.

“Hey, Blush.”

“Oh, hey, Ivy. This is Whisper, Ghost, and Phantom. Don’t ask about the names.”

Ivy smiles, eyeing both Ghost and Phantom. “Mind if I sit?”

Phantom pulls out a chair between him and Ghost. “Not at all.”
