He raised his eyes back up. “No one matters like you do.”
“You matter to me, too, Cal,” I said quietly.
We stared at each other for a long moment, then he shifted closer. My arms fell from my knees and I straightened my legs. Cally shuffled slowly forward until he bracketed my thighs, and I lay back. He folded over me, his weight coming down onto his hands beside my shoulders, bringing his face close to mine.
“Mikey?” His eyes flicked between mine, searching, and I recalled suddenly what that website had said the color was: Skydive.
“Yeah?” I murmured, my cock stirring back to life.
“I have a couple more questions.”
“I know you do, Cal.”
One of the things I loved most about Cally was the fact that if he needed more information, he had no problem asking for it. It was all part of his directness that had been off-putting at first. Now it was just …. him.
“Question one.” Cally smiled, a wry twist of his lips. “More of a statement, really. This isn’t going to change anything between us, right?”
I fought the urge to tease him, to point out that was, in fact, a question. “No. It’s not gonna change anything,” I vowed.
He breathed out hard. “Okay, because if it was, I don’t think I could go through with it. I don’t … I don’t have any friends like you, and that means more to me than this.”
“Same,” I said.
I had friends back home—lots of them—but none who ever got me the way Cally did. Not a single one who immediately saw straight through my bullshit. No one who’d lifted me up like he had when I could have so easily dragged him down instead.
I wanted him, but if it cost us our friendship, I’d get up and walk right out of this room and straight into a cold shower. No orgasm was worth it.
“Second question.” He lowered himself the rest of the way down, his hips nestling into the apex of my thighs where I was hard and aching. He glanced down, an acknowledgment of what he felt there, and then back up.
“I don’t want to assume anything and be wrong, so I need to know, specifically, what you want.”
“You’re gonna think it’s dumb,” I said, fighting the urge to look away.
“Everything about this is dumb.” He leaned close, brushing the tip of his nose along my jaw. “But I want to do it anyway.”
Deep down, I’d known he would say that. It was the only reason I’d had the guts to bring it up in the first place. When it came to me, Cally was generous. Too generous, I sometimes thought.
That was why I’d needed to know if he was attracted to me or not. Some part of me understood that even if he wasn’t, Cally would do this for me anyway, and I never wanted to put him in that position.
“You don’t even know what it is yet,” I pointed out.
“Doesn’t matter.”
He dipped his head and pressed his lips to a spot on my neck that until this second I hadn’t known could make me shiver. I tilted my head automatically to give him better access.
“I’d do anything for you, Mikey. You know that,” he breathed into my skin. “Just tell me what you need.”
“Can you just, um … lie on me. And move against me.” I blew out a breath. “Until, um. Yeah.”
Why was it so goddamn hard to say what I wanted—to vocalize what I was asking him to do for me?
To me.
Thankfully, Cally was a smart guy.
“Yeah, Mikey, I can do that.”
He propped himself up on one elbow, looking down at me with an expression that was both soft and a little bit hungry, his eyes moving over my face like he couldn’t quite believe this was real but also maybe couldn’t wait to do what I’d asked.
