A Little Bit of Sweetness

He let me know what was going on every step of the way. I had never trusted anyone as much as I trusted him, and it scared me. That didn’t mean I wasn’t going to suck his soul out of his dick the next chance I got.

I wasn’t absolutely sure if I was ready for the move in together stage, but I loved that man. I had to admit it. When I saw his big black truck whip into the parking lot on Friday morning, I squealed.

“Girl, what you so excited about? That man must be back?” Rhonda asked.

“Yes and shut up.”

“I’m happy for you. I can’t remember the last time I saw you like this, if ever.”

“Probably when Greg had me fooled like he was a good guy.”

“That only lasted until he put that bun in your oven.”

“Don’t even mention it. Trey was the best thing I could have gotten from that situation.”

“Here comes daddy,” Rhonda teased, pointing toward where Quinton parked his truck.

“See, that’s why I don’t tell your bighead ass nothing.”

“Good morning, beautiful. Good morning, Ms. Rhonda.” Quinton spoke as he approached the window.

“Good morning, Q. Welcome back.” Rhonda spoke first.

“Feels good to be back. I missed my hot chocolate.”

“Did you get everything settled?” she asked him.

“Yes, thank God for that. I prayed the whole time until I walked out that door.”

“Don’t stop praying now,” I said as I walked over and made his mocha.

“I won’t. Y’all been holding down the fort while I was gone.”

“I was. Your girl was just sulking around talking about how much she missed seeing you throughout the day.”

“Girl, will you shut the hell up.”

“It’s cute that you missed your man, Shy. I missed you too. You got me spoiled already. That’s why I begged you to stay here.”

I pressed my lips together to keep from blushing, but I was sure it didn’t work. Walking back over to the window I passed Quinton his mocha and box containing two sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits.

“You didn’t beg,” I told him.

“This don’t look like my cinnamon rolls.”

“It’s not. I wanted you to try something else. I’ve been giving you too much sugar.”

“If you ask me, I haven’t been getting enough.” He winked.

“Is that right?” I asked.

“Y’all are just nasty.” Rhonda chimed in.

“I wish you would get some business,” I retorted.

Quinton laughed before taking a sip of his drink. “I’ll see you later, hot chocolate.”

“See you later, Quinton.”
