“Nah, she’s right to defend you. I’m glad to know somebody has your back.”
“So, you should know I will go all out to protect her,” Rhonda added.
“So would I,” he replied.
“Good to know,” Rhonda retorted.
“How can I help you, Quinton?” I asked, cocking my head to the side.
I knew I’d said that he wasn’t in trouble anymore, but I was still annoyed with him. My spirit wasn’t completely settled on unexpectedly seeing Quinton with another woman. It didn’t matter if it wasn’t his fault. We had plans. I felt like a brat for still being upset with him.
“I need my daily dose of hot chocolate.”
“I thought you already had breakfast.”
“You know I’m talking about you. I can wait on my other treats, unless you want to come to my office so I can have dessert before I get my day started,” he said, wearing a stupid, sexy grin.
“Shut up.” I laughed.
“Seriously though. I had pancakes with my son and his mom, but it was nothing like my baby’s breakfast.”
“That’s what you get for flaking on me.”
“Can I still get my hot chocolate?”
“I guess,” I said, walking over to the coffee section.
“Thank you, pretty.”
I made Quinton’s coffee just how he liked it and passed it to him.
“What time do you usually pick Lil’ Q up from day care?” he asked before taking a sip of his mocha.
“Who?” I laughed.
“My son, baby.”
“I have to get him by one.”
“I’ll go grab him so you don’t have to rush. I’m setting up an area for him in my office this morning. I might start keeping him at home. He prefers to be close to daddy.”
“Quinton, what in the world are you talking about?”
“My initial plan was to start paying for his day care, but I rather have my boy with me. I used to bring Vick to work with me.”
“Victor was your son. I don’t want you going out of your way to make room for Trey.”
“Don’t insult me like that about my son again. What cartoons does he like?”
“He likes anything that makes a whole bunch of freaking noise.”
“I’m headed to the store. What day care do you use?”
“Tiny Scholars.”
“OK. I know where that is. Let them know his daddy will probably pick him up early.”
“I wouldn’t even think about calling those people if I didn’t know you were crazy enough to be serious.”
