“I never said you were back on it. You had me holding out all night, waiting to see you this morning, then you had the nerve to have company.”
“So, you waited for your man to please you?” he asked.
“That’s what you asked me to do.”
“I know I gotta make it up to you now. What I gotta do?”
“Let me think about it.”
“For what it’s worth, I apologize.”
“I hear you.”
“Let me out the doghouse, baby.”
“I’m not playing with you. Go have breakfast with your family. I’ll see you when you got to work.”
“Tell me I’m not in trouble anymore.”
“Quinton, go eat breakfast.”
“I don’t know if I can eat in these conditions.”
“You’re not in trouble anymore, but you have some making up to do.”
“I can handle that. Let me call the shop and tell them to put the tires back on your truck.”
“What?”
“Don’t worry. They work fast.”
“Why are the tires off of my truck, Quinton?”
“I didn’t want you to leave,” he answered as if that made perfect sense.
“So you had the tires taken off of my truck?” I asked again.
“Yeah, but they’re going to put them back on.”
“I know you’re fucking playing!”
“Take the scenic route just in case I’m not.”
“Quinton, tell me you’re not out of your damn mind,” I urged.
“I’m not out of my damn mind, baby. I just couldn’t handle letting you run away because you got the wrong impression.”
“This fool is for real,” I mumbled.
“I’m crazy about you, Shiloh. I’m pretty sure that was already evident.”
“It was, but now I’m wondering if I’m safe.”
“You’re always safe with and around me. You never have to question that.”
“My tires better be on that truck, Quinton.”
“You need to let me get off the phone so I can make sure they are.”
