“You said we.” She tried not to be distracted by the tense muscles holding her so close. “You’re working with others to abduct runaways?”
“You’re clever.” The Zarlen smirked as he reached the door and pulled it open. Two more Zarlen were standing outside.
They glared at Dallin as they rushed into the room.
He pushed Sloane out of the way as he lobbed out punches, slamming into the closest Zarlen with a bone cracking blow.
The second Zarlen pulled a gun and fired.
Sloane kicked the gun out of his hand and hit him in the face with an uppercut, breaking his nose and sending blood flying across the room, some of it hitting her. She was grabbed from behind, but this time she was ready. She kicked back, then threw the third Zarlen over her head.
Dallin was by her side a second later and slammed the Zarlen’s head into the floor.
A shot blasted across the room as one of the fallen Zarlen was back on his knees, his weapon in his hand.
“Look out!” Sloane yelled.
Dallin was a blur of movement as he lunged at the alien and grabbed the gun. He tossed it away and shoved him down.
Sloane’s breath caught. The Zarlen must have a death wish because he attacked Dallin, jumping on his back and raining punches on his head. But he was no match for her warrior alien.
Dallin flipped him over his shoulder and slammed his fist repeatedly into the Zarlen’s face until he stopped moving.
Sloane winced and looked down at her blood splattered clothes.
They’d had no choice but to defend themselves, but nobody wanted to get covered in gross alien blood. And she was relieved to see it was only the Zarlen’s blood. Neither of them had gotten hurt in this fight.
Dallin looked up, the rage fading in his eyes as his gaze flickered over her.
“I’m okay. He didn’t hurt me.” Sloane squeaked as Dallin lifted her over his shoulder and charged out of the room.
