She didn’t move away. Ash helped to subdue her rage. Sometimes, it felt like her anger would make her head explode. It came out of nowhere and shocked her with its intensity. She’d only started feeling this way since she’d been taken prisoner. It tore her up inside that she hadn’t been able to control the situation.

Ash glanced at the animal on the examination table. He turned Georgia away from the body and looked into her eyes. “We’ll discover who is doing this.”

“I hate them. Whoever they are, I’ll make them sorry.”

“We both will. Don’t take on the world all alone. Not when you don’t have to.”

Georgia didn’t resist when Ash lifted her chin and traced his fingers along her jawline. Fire raced through her as his hand curled into her hair, and she gave a tiny moan as he stroked his free hand down to her waist. The way he made her forget her worries should be illegal.

Their gazes locked before his eyes dipped to her mouth.

For a second, she was tempted to break her rule, but if they kissed, it would mean something, and she wasn’t ready for anything that scary.

But she was willing to be held by Ash and have those hard muscles wrap around her, giving her comfort and sending sparks of excitement to her core.

Ash pulled her closer, and she pressed herself against his chest. He pulled back to kiss her collarbone, and his lips and tongue began to tease, sending currents of heat down her spine.

“Someone could come in,” she whispered.

“They won’t.”

Georgia thought about protesting some more but was too lost in the tremors already running through her to think straight.

She stroked Ash’s shaft through his clothing, making him groan. “The desk is right behind you if you want to take this to the next level.”

“I’m already thinking about that.” Ash picked her up, and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He walked to the desk and settled her on it.

Georgia grinned up at him. “This time, it’ll have to be fast. If Dallin catches us screwing on his desk, he’ll be pissed.”

Ash was already peeling off his clothes. “I’m all for fast when I need to be.”

Georgia’s eyes widened as the door opened. She shoved Ash away just before Dallin and Sloane strode in.

Sloane grinned as her gaze ran over Georgia’s disheveled clothing. She held up two takeout mugs of coffee. “I thought you might need a boost, but it looks like you’re getting your own form of stimulation.”

Dallin looked around and frowned as if not certain what they’d just walked in on.

“I could do with something hot.” Georgia adjusted her clothing, her cheeks warm and her insides tingling.

Sloane laughed. “You’ve already got that. Dallin’s brought brownies. I had to convince him not to eat them all on our way back.”

“Thanks.” Georgia grabbed a coffee and took a long sip. She was being irresponsible. She shouldn’t let herself get distracted by Ash and his smoldering touch. There was no time to waste on emotions. Not when there was space scum messing with the vulnerable.

“Did you have any breakthroughs while we were gone?” A playful smile crossed Sloane’s face.

“Nope. I was just running everything by Ash,” Georgia said. “I think we should go back to Sysal and see if we can catch these jerks in the act.”

“Cleo’s already considering sending another team if what you collected doesn’t give us what we need. She’s thinking we take a larger unit to cover more ground,” Sloane said.

“She told you that?” Georgia asked.

“Not in so many words, but I overheard her talking to Hunter.”

“If that happens, we need to be on that team,” Georgia said.

“We could go, too.” Sloane looked at Dallin, but he was already shaking his head.

“I need to stay here and finish up. This body has more information to reveal.”
