He cupped her ass and ground against her, her body heat sinking into him and making every nerve in his body hyper aware of her closeness.
Pleasure scorched through Blaze. This was what he needed in his life. This feeling of wild passion and longing. But how could he trust her, now she knew who he really was?
Eden trapped him in her arms, holding him close as the kiss intensified, fiery sparks of need racing through him with every caress of her tongue against his.
When they pulled apart, he was breathless, and she was shaking. And he wanted to do it all over again.
“You’ve never let me do that before,” he said.
“I sure am letting you do it now. I’ll let you do it again, now I know how amazing it feels. You’re not such a gentleman when it comes to a make-out session.” Eden’s gaze swept over his face.
Blaze stepped back and crossed his arms over his chest, his cock so hard it hurt. “Is that why you did it? You find it exciting that I have power?”
The desire faded in her eyes. “It’s not a turn off, but it wouldn’t make me want to jump you.”
“So why now? Why turn on the sugar as soon as you’ve found out where I come from?”
“Turn on the... you’ve been spending too much time with Sloane. I didn’t turn on anything. You came on to me. You kissed me.”
“I’ve done it before. You’ve always turned me down.”
She threw up her hands. “Because... because we work together.”
“That’s crap. You work with Ranger, and you took him to your bed.”
She hissed out a breath. “It’s not the same. He’s not my partner.”
Blaze shook his head, a punch of disappointment slamming into his chest. “I had to test you. I had to know how you’d react now you know about my background.”
Confusion crossed Eden’s face. “How I’d react?”
“You wouldn’t be the first. You definitely won’t be the last. You’re just like all the other women.”
She reached out a hand as if to touch him but left a gap between them. “What are you talking about?”
His smile was sharp as a cold ache settled around his heart. “You’re happy to spread your legs now you know about my connections.”
“Holy fuck. Is that how little you think of me?”
“It’s the only conclusion I can come to. You’ve always shoved me away.”
She waved a hand at him. “I... I don’t know. For a second, I believed you could be genuine. When I learned about your background, I wondered if you were different from other guys. But you’re not. It sounds like you use your position to get into bed with anyone you want.”
“What if I did? You seem happy enough to fuck me because of my status. Why not exploit that if women are dumb enough to think that matters?” He felt like a dick as tears filled Eden’s eyes, but that was the only thing that had changed between them. She now knew who he really was, and suddenly she wanted him.
“Screw you, Blaze. If you think that’s what I do, then you know nothing about me.” She turned and marched out of the room.
He dropped his head and sighed, the taste of Eden still on his lips, and his body thrumming with desire for her.
All this time, she really thought he’d been putting on an act to trick her into liking him? What kind of nightmare situations had she been in to make her think like that?
Blaze pressed his palm against his forehead and rubbed. His decision about his future should be clear. He’d always been wary about getting involved with anyone. So many women wanted him for his status and nothing else. They used it to crawl up the social ladder.
Was Eden any different? He wasn’t so sure anymore.
She’d never let him kiss her before, and now this. She’d practically climbed him.
He shuddered, the scent of her still surrounding him.
It was time to cut his losses and run, escape this fucked up fantasy where he’d be with Eden, they’d both be happy, and he wouldn’t be shackled into a loveless match.
But that kiss had been fire. He wasn’t sure he could do without another one.
