But Georgia chewed up men and spat them out when she was done with them. She was a love them hard and leave them fast kind of woman. And there was no problem with that, but Blaze wasn’t that kind of guy. He didn’t do one-night stands. And Eden would hate to see him get used by Georgia just because she was bored and horny.
“I checked through the ship’s comm system with Striker. Everything is running smoothly,” Wren said. “And Striker’s going through the on-boarding sequence. So far, everything is good.”
“Thanks, Wren,” Eden said, the jealous hum inside her fading to an acceptable level.
“You sure you’re up to the mission?” Wren said. “I saw the playback when you captured the snake. That attack was nasty. That thing had you by the throat.”
“I’m good. Almost healed, thanks to Angel and the energy transfer from Blaze.”
“You must have been in pain if you accepted that.” Wren cocked her head, but Eden didn’t offer more.
“I love those energy blasts from our sexy Apexians,” Georgia said. “They give me the tingles all over and make me even stronger.” She flexed her biceps.
“Yeah, Miss Ninja Warrior. We know about your unstoppable skills.” Wren shook her head and chuckled.
“Because she never stops bragging about how much she can bench press,” Eden muttered.
Georgia smirked and kissed her guns. She was always vague about her past, but there were rumors she’d served in military intelligence. The way she talked about it, she sounded like a female version of James Bond, just with curves and a bitchy attitude.
Footsteps entering the docking bay had Eden turning. She smiled when she saw Blaze then cursed under her breath when Georgia laughed at her.
“Speak of the horny devil,” Georgia said. “Yum. My mouth’s watering.”
“Can it,” Eden said. “Don’t play with him, Georgia. I’m warning you.”
“I’ll play with him if I like. Unless you have an interest in him.”
A knowing look passed between Wren and Georgia.
Eden’s smile slipped, and she scowled at them. “Wind your neck in, Georgia. You too, Wren.” She strode over to Blaze. “How’s it going?”
“No problems on my end. I’ve done the checks on the animals, and they’re fit to travel. How’s the ship?”
“We’re running the final checks. Everything’s good. We’re on schedule to leave as soon as the military escort arrives.” Eden gritted her teeth as Georgia strolled over.
“We were just talking about you,” she said.
“All good, I hope,” Blaze said.
“It’s always good when it comes to you. Eden’s very protective of you.”
He glanced at Eden. “That’s good to know. She’s my partner. We have each other’s backs.”
“Haven’t you got a system to check?” Eden said to Georgia.
Georgia planted her hands on her hips. “Why do you get to have all the fun?”
“This is work,” Eden said.
“Georgia, I could do with a hand over here,” Wren said as she stood by the ship.
Georgia sighed, winked at Blaze, and sauntered away.
“Ignore her. She’s in one of her funny moods. She’s been winding us all up,” Eden said.
Blaze grinned. “I’m used to Georgia. She’s harmless.”
“You wouldn’t say that if she ever got you in a headlock. And she’s being a particular bitch today.”
