Daisy glanced at her. “I didn’t know you’d scanned me.”

“They had me do it discreetly,” Angel said. “Just in case, you know, you still had an evil alien critter lurking in your blood.”

Daisy scowled at the screen. “Sure. I get it. It was still a sneaky move on their part.”

“I’ve got to say your muscle tone has improved, as has your respiratory function. All the inflammation markers have gone, too. What did you do when you were on Laire? It’s like you went to a spa, not got captured by aliens.”

Heat rose up Daisy’s neck and onto her cheeks. “I mainly rested. Having alien tech inside you takes it out of you.”

Angel leaned closer, a wicked gleam in her eyes. “Is that why Rexx is looking so happy with himself?”

Daisy struggled not to smile. “I, um, maybe.”

“You’re holding out on me.” Angel walked to the door. “What happened between you and Rexx?”

Daisy walked out of the room and almost slammed into Rexx’s chest.

He picked her up and kissed her.

“Ohhhh! That happened.” Angel laughed out loud.

Daisy grinned as she returned Rexx’s kiss. Yep, this had definitely happened. And it was still happening. It would happen forever.

“How did it go with High Command?” he asked as he set her back on her feet.

“They blasted me for a while, told me I was reckless, and then thanked me. Angel stuck up for me, which helped,” Daisy said.

“Always happy to help High Command see sense.” Angel waved a finger between them. “I now see why your stress markers are down. Sex is a great way to chill you out.”

Daisy groaned and bashed her forehead against Rexx’s chest. “Our secret is out.”

“I want it to be,” he said. “There’s nothing to hide.”

Daisy looked up at him, and the warmth in his eyes melted her heart. “No, we’ve got nothing we need to hide.”

Angel loudly cleared her throat. “I’ve got a ton of work in the lab. Have fun, you two. Remember, lots of sex is good for you.” She finger waved at them then dashed away.

“The news will be all over the ship by the end of the day,” Daisy said. “Angel loves to gossip.”

“Good. I want everyone to know you’re mine.”

Daisy snuggled against him but pulled back when he didn’t hug her. “Is everything okay?”

“It’s great. But I need a word with you alone.”

Rexx didn’t do nerves, but right now, his hands were shaking and sweat prickled under his armpits.

“Have you had bad news? Is there a problem with our next mission?” Daisy had her hand tucked into his elbow. He loved it being there.

“No.”

“That’s not helpful.” She jabbed a finger into his ribs. “You can at least tell me where we’re going.”

“To my quarters.”

She slowed and tugged on his elbow. “Rexx! I can’t keep up with you. You want to get me naked again?”
