Her eyes grew heavy, and she nestled closer to him. They’d be partners to the end. Wherever that end took them.

If Rexx wasn’t locked in a cold, dark cell, a prisoner of the Gente, this would be his idea of perfection. Daisy was plastered against him, her head on his chest, her hand splayed across his torso, and one leg flipped over him.
He only moved his eyes as he looked around the cell, so as not to disturb her. It was dark and unwelcoming. It was the perfect prison cell.
He risked touching Daisy’s forehead. She felt a little cooler. That was good. Maybe the alien technology had stopped screwing with her.
His deep sleep had helped him heal, but the injuries inflicted during the firefight still ached. It would take days to heal because of the energy transfer, but it was so worth it. Daisy was alive. She was still fighting.
He closed his eyes. A part of him wished he could shut off his emotions when it came to her. But it was like a switch had been permanently locked to the on position. It was selfish of him, but he wanted her. He wanted her more than anything, more than the revenge he planned on the Gente for hurting her.
Everyone saw him as this all-powerful Apexian warrior who was afraid of nothing, but he was weak around her. He was vulnerable.
He’d been so used to operating on autopilot, reacting to situations, usually with violence, that when Daisy had come into his life, it had shocked him to the core. Her laughter, that smile that shot straight to his heart, and the way she’d looked at him with warmth and interest in her eyes. She wasn’t afraid of him. She’d accepted him for exactly who he was.
But Rexx should have paid more attention. No one got through life without getting a few good kickings. Daisy had hidden her pain and loss so well that he hadn’t picked up on it.
He bit down a growl at the thought of her mistreatment.
Rexx wanted a future with Daisy. He could tell himself he didn’t a million times, but it would still be a lie. And it got harder to deny how he felt the more time they spent together.
Daisy sighed. Her hand flexed against his torso. “Are you awake?”
“Yeah.”
“How are you doing?” She wriggled against him, and his cock twitched.
“I was just thinking how we’ve been spoiled with so much luxury.”
Daisy huffed out a quiet laugh. “They gave us the honeymoon suite.” She shifted again, her thigh pressing against him.
There was nothing he could do to hide the throbbing length of his cock rising up. Any second, Daisy would feel him. He held his breath. His own body was betraying him.
Her hand moved again, tracing over his abs. Was she deliberately torturing him with her silken touch?
She rolled even closer, pressing her body against his side.
He moaned softly as her breasts rubbed his arm. He had to stop her, but his body didn’t want him to. It wanted Daisy. All of her.
Rexx cupped her butt and slid her on top of him.
Her eyes were hazy with lust as they met his. She grabbed his chin and sank against his mouth.
Still, he held back. This wasn’t his Daisy. This was the alien tech. She’d never do this. She didn’t want him the way he needed her.
Daisy pulled back, her head tilted. She stroked a finger across his lips. “You’re always trying to work out what’s best for me.”
“That’s my job.” His tone was tight, his body shaking with restrained desire.
She bucked her hips against his cock. “What if this is best for me? What if I want this?”
His eyes closed for a second. He breathed in deep and was overwhelmed. Daisy’s scent was all around him.
“Stop thinking about what I want. Feel it,” she murmured. “What do I need to feel?”
Rexx swallowed, his hands sliding up and down her back. He wanted to pull her down on top of him, devour her, forget all this fucked up mess, and just be with Daisy.
