“No! There’s no need to do that. I’ll be fine. I’ll lay on this nice cool piece of floor until everything stops moving.”
“You need help. It sounds like you have a concussion.”
She huffed out a breath. “Discrete help. Don’t make a big deal out of this.”
“Discrete help it is. Things won’t stop moving until your injury has been dealt with. I’ve requested a medical patch be brought to your room.”
She did feel terrible. A medic should check her over to make sure she hadn’t done any real damage.
Dinky appeared by the side of her face and sniffed her, his mane fur tickling her nose.
“It’s okay. I don’t blame you. I was the one making you panic by running around. I know you hate it when I do that. You love the calm and quiet.”
He chirruped loudly. His head jerked up as an alert signaled at the door.
“I’ll let him in,” ELVIS said.
“Him? Who did you ask to come here?” Wren said.
Dinky scuttled out of the room before signaling an alarm cry and rushing back to Wren.
“It’s okay. Whoever it is, they won’t hurt you.” She took a deep breath. “I’m in here. I’ve had a fall.”
Footsteps rapidly approached. Striker appeared in the doorway. “What have you done to yourself?”
She groaned and squeezed her eyes shut. She was half-naked, a mess, and stank of puke. And Striker got to see it all. Could this day get any worse?

She was deathly pale. Too pale. His gut clenched as he hurried over to Wren. “Can you stand?” He knelt beside her.
“Of course. It’s my balance that’s the problem.” Her cheeks grew pink, and she wouldn’t meet his gaze.
“I was fixing our gear when ELVIS sent me a private message. He told me you’d had a fall.”
“It’s nothing. Just give me the medical patch. I’ll be good as new in a couple of minutes.”
Striker’s fingers hovered over the lump on Wren’s head. “What did you hit?”
“The table. Dinky got under my feet, and I lost my balance.”
He scowled at the circling critter. “I always told you that thing would be the death of you.” Striker pulled the medical patch from his pocket and removed the adhesive. A pungent medicinal scent filled the air.
“He won’t. He’s the closest thing I’ve got to a child.”
“That’s one hell of a scary kid you’ve birthed. Hold still. This’ll sting.” He smoothed the patch over the lump on her head. “Do you feel sick or dizzy?”
“Dizzy. It’s nothing.” She touched the edge of the medicinal patch.
His gaze ran over her. She was dressed in plain black cotton panties and a bra. His cock nodded its appreciation at the sight of her bare skin. “Why are you missing most of your clothes?”
“Dinky puked on me. I was hurrying to change.”
“Why were you in a hurry?”
Her eyes flashed him a warning. “I fell asleep at my desk last night. I realized I’d be late for the mission, so I dashed back, got Dinky overexcited by running around, and this is how he paid me back.”
“I told you he’d kill you.”
