Even though his movements were slow, Talyn returned the kiss with passion. He pulled back, his gaze locked on hers. “Let’s get out of here.”
Sinead smiled as she tucked one arm around his waist and flung his arm around her shoulder. “We have a lot to talk about, but only if we get out of here.” She opened the door and winced as an ear-splitting alarm sounded.
She glanced at the reception area. Holly was being manhandled out the front door. The staff must know something was wrong.
Sinead forced Talyn to speed up as they returned to the service corridor. He stumbled with every other step, and she almost fell as he lost his balance.
“Stay with me. It’s not much farther. Booby is waiting for us.”
“Booby must hate me,” he said.
“She’s not happy with you, but she doesn’t hate you. Booby wants you back, as do I.”
“Because you love me.” Talyn’s voice had a whispered, dream-like quality to it. He stumbled and hit the ground, taking Sinead with him.
“I won’t love you if you do that again.” Sinead’s knees slammed into the hard stone floor, and an ache throbbed through her legs. “We’re so close. Don’t give up on me. We’ve got our whole lives ahead of us.”
“Together?” he whispered.
“Yes, if you’ll have me. I screwed this up, and I’m so sorry.” Sinead grabbed his face between her hands. “I want to try again. Actually, I want to try properly.”
“Because you love me,” Talyn repeated a wonky smile on his face.
She kissed him fiercely. “Damn straight I love you.”
As he pulled back from their lip bruising kiss, he touched her cheek. “I love you too.”
Sinead grinned as she forced Talyn to stand. “Show me how much you love me by helping me get out of here.”
She pushed open the external door and tensed as she heard shouts behind her.
“Stop right there!” an angry male yelled.
Sinead didn’t stop to see who it was. She barreled out the door, heaving Talyn along, half dragging and half running him as they headed toward Booby and the welcome sight of her docking ramp open.
“Booby! We’ve got company.”
“Get inside. My systems are ready for immediate take off.”
“Sinead!” Holly raced over to them. She caught hold of Talyn’s other arm and heaved it over her shoulders.
“They figured you weren’t visiting a friend,” Sinead said as they raced toward the ship.
“I did my best. They got suspicious and threw me out.”
“You did great.” Sinead was gasping, sweat dripping down her forehead as they reached Booby.
They raced up the docking ramp, and it shut behind them, shutting out the cries of the security guards who chased them.
Sinead dropped to the floor, Talyn taking her down as he collapsed with exhaustion. “Booby, get us out of here.”
“Already on it,” Booby said.
Sinead let out an exhausted sigh and looked at Holly. “We actually did it.”
“Of course, we did.” Holly smiled as she leaned against the wall. “We make a great team.”
Sinead nodded. “I couldn’t have done it without you and Booby.”
