“Her mind or her mouth?”

“Her mind definitely and sometimes her mouth. She also has trouble sleeping. But when she settles and stops trying to impress people, she’s nice. Sweet.”

“I do not like loud on here.”

Talyn rubbed a hand down his face. “Neither of us likes loud, but I help her, as well. When she touched me, her mind stilled. Booby, it was like something possessed us.”

“This is exciting! You’re also her Blocker.”

Talyn tilted his head from side to side. “Doubtful. I’ve only heard of a dozen times when two Blockers are compatible.” It was something Lillips could do, help quiet the noise in their mate’s head. A compatible Blocker was difficult to find, but the few he knew of were blissfully happy. They had no concerns and could just be themselves.

He shivered at the potential before him. Was it true? Had he met someone who could channel everything away and allow him peace?

“Is she attractive?”

“She’s nothing on you.” He patted the console, and it glowed to show Booby’s appreciation. “I barely noticed what she looked like.”

“You had your barriers up too high, as usual.”

“I need to in a place like this. There are a lot of people around. A lot of noisy minds trying to break through.”

“You don’t find her physically unappealing?”

Talyn rested his head back against the seat. “She’s beautiful. She has dark, silky hair and big green feline eyes. I wouldn’t object to her being around.”

“I might. She sounds too beautiful. I’m the main woman in your life.”

“Don’t get jealous on me, Booby. You’ll always be my number one girl. But you might need to make a little room for this one. Both of our lives could be better for having her in them.”

The lights pulsed around Talyn for a few seconds. It was a sign Booby was thinking. In reality, she didn’t need to think. She was a supercomputer. Her algorithms computed and decided on complex problems in a fraction of a second. But she affected Lillip behaviors to make those around her more comfortable. It worked. Talyn was never more comfortable and at ease than when he was talking to Booby.

“All I want is for you to be happy, Talyn.”

“I have my moments of happiness. I enjoy our time together in space.”

“There is only so much I can do to meet all your needs. You spend too much time alone.”

“I’m never alone when I’m with you.”

“Talyn, you know the needs I refer to. I’m the love of your life, but there’s only so much a ship can do to sate certain desires. My collection of pornography is extensive, but you never look at it.”

Talyn shrugged. He hadn’t touched a female for a long time. It wasn’t too much to ask to feel the soft touch of another person. He needed that.

The sound of footsteps coming up the docking ramp had Talyn turning in his seat.

“From your description of Sinead, I believe she has arrived,” Booby said.

Talyn blew out a breath and wiped his hands down the front of his pants. This was it. It was time to join with his life mate.

Chapter 5

Sinead wasn’t sure how she’d survived the day on no sleep and too much alcohol in her system, but somehow, she’d pulled it off. It had helped that she’d kept thinking about Talyn and their conversation this morning. He was on board with finding a mate, and she couldn’t wait to sign him up.

She only needed one more alien on board to hit her target for the month, and there was still a week to go.

Sinead stopped at the top of the docking ramp and looked around. The inside of the ship was warm and welcoming; lights encouraged her along a corridor. She trailed a hand along the sleek dark wall, and a strange noise echoed around her.

“That tickles,” a voice whispered.
