The noise sent shudders of pleasure flowing through Nell. She leaned against him, and it intensified the sensation.
“I’ve missed that sound,” she whispered.
“I’ve missed you,” Rane said as he shifted his attention to her other breast. “I’ve missed the sight of you, the smell of you, and the taste of you.”
Nell shifted up the bed and kissed down Rane’s neck, her tongue sliding over his skin. She hesitated as she met his neck frill. “Is it okay if I kiss you here?”
“It would be rude not to,” Rane said. “Once you do, there’s no going back. You’ll be mine.”
Nell sucked in a breath. She placed her lips gently on Rane’s neck frill.
His hum intensified, and his arms wrapped around her.
The vibrations ran through Nell’s body, and she found herself grinding against him. She swept her tongue over his neck frill several times, and Rane groaned with pleasure.
She leaned back and smiled at him. “It looks like I’m all yours.”
Rane’s hungry gaze swept over her bare chest. “Let’s get you out of this jumpsuit and see if I can recreate that erotic dream I had.”
The door to the room slid open. Doctor Raven stood in the entrance, her dark eyes wide as she took in Nell’s half-naked appearance and the fact she straddled Rane.
“I see Rane is awake.”
Nell ducked her head and laughed as she yanked up her jumpsuit. “He is. I was just... checking on his vital signs.” She hopped off the bed and zipped herself up.
“And are his vital signs working?” A smile tugged at Doctor Raven’s lips.
“Everything is in perfect working order,” Rane said. “Nell makes an excellent nurse.”
“She makes for an attentive one. She has barely left your side.” Doctor Raven ran a scanner over Rane. She spent a few seconds looking at the readings. “It’s nice to have you back with us. How are you feeling?”
Rane’s gaze remained on Nell. “As good as new.”
“You had us concerned for a while. We’ll run some tests now that you’re awake to make sure there’s no permanent damage.”
“I can’t leave?” Rane asked.
“You’ve experienced brain trauma. No one gets up and walks away from that without some recovery time.”
“I can with Nell’s help.”
Nell grabbed hold of his hand. “You’d better listen to the Doc. I don’t want you relapsing.”
“And I can’t have him engaging in any more stimulating activity.” Doctor Raven glared at Nell. “He needs proper rest.”
“I have to go?”
“Give him two hours of downtime and then you can come back.”
“I don’t want Nell to go,” Rane said.
“You have no choice. Stay where you are while I do a thorough examination. Miss Saunders, if I see you back here before that, you’ll be banned from the medical sector. Do we have an understanding?”
Nell nodded. She placed a lingering kiss on Rane’s lips. “To be continued?”
Rane grinned at her. “I’m going to continue the ass off you.”
She smiled as she reluctantly left the room. Nell felt pure joy and excitement. Excitement about their future together and the adventures it held for them. She wasn’t looking back anymore, not when her future had Rane in it.
