Rane’s still asleep. No change in his condition. What’s Diadora up to?

The reply was instant.

Nothing bad, but it’s going to keep you busy.

Nell let out a sigh. My Single Alien was almost out of control busy with lonely, horny aliens seeking a mate. Every hour she spent here was one less she could do matchmaking.

The aliens would have to wait a little longer for their perfect matches. She’d found hers and wasn’t leaving his side until he was healthy.

Her fingers drifted back to Rane’s neck frill. Maybe he’d find it comforting to know she was with him and felt the same as he did.

Gods, she was in love with an alien. Head over heels, movie romantic love that she didn’t think existed.

Nell stood and placed both hands on either side of Rane’s head. When his neck frill was flattened, you could barely see it. She stroked her fingers along the edge. The skin was soft and warm.

She continued to stroke it, easing out the neck frill and tickling her fingers along the underside.

The skin glowed red for a second before returning to its normal pale green color.

“Come on, baby. Wake up for me. I miss hearing you hum. I miss you. I need you back.” Nell continued stroking him.

Her initial hope that this would bring him back faded after a few minutes. It seemed that, other than that initial flush of color, it wasn’t making a difference.

Nell cupped Rane’s face in her hands and kissed him on the lips. “I am not losing you.”

His eyelids fluttered, just for a second.

Nell gave a squeak of surprise. “Rane, can you hear me?”

His head moved a fraction.

She kissed him again, harder this time.

His eyes shot open, and he gasped.

Nell kept hold of his face. “Everything’s okay. You’re safe.”

He blinked up at the ceiling several times. “I just had the most erotic dream of my life.”

Nell choked out a laugh. “I’m glad to hear one of us has been having fun.”

Rane looked around. “Where are we?”

“On Starland in the medical sector.”

Rane stiffened. “And your creepy therapist?”

“Dead.”

“How?”

Nell shrugged. “She pissed me off when she tried to smother you. She shouldn’t have done that.”

A smile inched up Rane’s lips. “I’ll make sure to remember never to piss you off.”

“Good plan.” Nell ran her hands down his arms. “How are you feeling? Everyone’s been so worried about you.”

Rane shifted in the bed and grimaced. “Like I’ve been lying down for too long. How long have I been here?”
