My home.

He reaches across the table and turns his hand over. I put mine in it. His thumb brushes across my wedding ring.

“You okay?” he asks quietly.

I smile. Eighteen years, and he still asks.

I squeeze his hand.

“Never been better.”

His lips curve.

“Good.”

I look at the man who stole my heart and bound his soul to mine, quietly, patiently and so fully that I don’t know where I begin and he ends. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Love you, Grumpy.”

“Love you too, short stuff.”
