Why do I feel like I just made a terrible mistake?
Jude chuckles beside me.
I turn towards him. “What's funny?”
He shakes his head. “Nothing.”
“You know something.”
“Nope.”
“Jude.”
His mouth twitches.
“Good luck telling Mama what to do.”
Shit.
CHAPTER 15
Eleonora
Soft lips press against my cheek.
I scrunch my nose and turn my face into the pillow, but another kiss lands on my temple, followed by one on my forehead.
“Stop,” I mumble, smiling.
A quiet laugh sounds beside me. “No.”
His lips brush the corner of my mouth, and my smile widens, although I stubbornly keep my eyes closed.
“I'm sleeping.”
“Not anymore.”
“Go away.”
“On your birthday? Never.”
My eyes open, and there he is.
Damiano is lying beside me, propped up on one elbow and smiling down at me. His dark hair is messy, his eyes still heavy with sleep, and I have to resist the urge to run my fingers through those unruly strands.
“Happy birthday, vita mia.”
I smile. “Thank you.”
He kisses me again, properly this time, and I wrap an arm around his neck, pulling him down on top of me.
“Whoa.” He laughs against my mouth. “Someone's happy to see me.”
“It's my birthday. I'm allowed.”
“You're always happy to see me.”
“Cocky bastard.”
